This my first post so I would like to introduce myself, I live in Mobile, Alabama been here for 10 (ten) years I'm from West Virginia (born and raised a Hillbilly and proud of it) I am a novice but I have groan plants and gardens all my life. I am 52 years young and disabled for the last 3 years, now I have the time to do a little more than I use to. So I want to say hello to everyone in this forum and that I appreciate any and all help.

If anyone can help me, I would like to know how to start the aloe plant without seeds, I know you can not put the leaf or stim in water to start new growth. My plants are about a foot (12") tall but very slim and I would like to make it fan or expand out.

I guess it depends on the type of aloe you have. I have several different types and the smallest one without any prickley things simply grows slim without fanning out but it does multiply alot so it fills a pot very quickly. There are others that do fan out but the leaf is thicker and therefore does take up more space. Then I have some that grow huge. They are the aloe sapornia. That grows in the ground and has very sharp tips and thorns, but it looks beautiful. I get alot of requests for baby cactus plants. So I guess basically you might need to identify the type u have to know how it will grow. Hope my 2 cents helpd some.

To the best of my recollection I was able to start Aloe by planting "leaves" (sections) into moist soil. The plants need plenty of light.
But hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along... it's been too long since I've had my aloe plants (when I lived in a sunny warm climate that worked for them!)

Be sure to scout around all the forums ... there are GREAT folks here with alot of helpful information!! (And you might even be enticed into Banter Hall, but I won't tell you about that.. )
