Ive been waiting to pick my first tomato, its almost ripe enough and dh and I have been looking forward to some nice toasted tomato sandwiches!! BUT....When I was checking on the plants today, I noticed 2 nicely chewed holes in my nice almost red tomato!! Not bug holes, just chewed holes.

We have squirrels, mice, rats and rabbits in the hood. Ive seen all but the rabbits in my yard. How do I keep critters from eating my tomatoes?

I did raised beds, and
my woodchucks are toooooo big to climb them...
And the rabbits don't bother them way up there..

Buttttttt, if anything grows over the edges,
they say it's fair game..

Mice and rats are so bad this year. We've set
traps but my best defense are my 3 large dogs.
The dogs keep most of the mice/rats run out.
I am concidering doing a raised bed for the
tomatoes next year.

Happy Gardening,
Robin

I have a friend who pees around his garden and that keeps the majority of animals out, But if you don't like the idea of that, I know that there are scented oils available that will keep animals out of a garden.
