Hey, the photo disappeared! Duh

Abe, the botanical name is Sansevieria trifasciata, commonly known as snake plant or, as Barleychown stated, mother-in-law's tongue.

that is a beautiful plant! i have a Sansevieria hahnii, and I was wondering is it suppose to bloom, it's much smaller. and the babies it produces have the same coloring as the picture up top but not the mother plant she is all green and her leaves are droopier than the plants I have gotten from her. I wonder why?

Snake plant/Mother-in-law's tongue needs to be root-bound (or well established, if it's outdoors) before it'll flower. I've noticed that seems to be the rule for Spider plants, as well.
Also, Snake plant needs to be fertilized only once a year.

thank you Patty, wavey for that tip i will keep it in it's pot and take a picture when it blossoms. I have 1 that is producing alot of babies. I guess that one must be pretty potbound. I will however, resist the temptation to repot. angell
