Does it matter which you use to root a piece of plant in? A co-worker ALWAYS roots hers in one of those Large plastic hot/cold beverage mugs. I'd also read a post once that mentioned putting Seran Wrap over the glass and pierceing a hole just enought for the plant to fit through preventing it from touching the rim. Then I began to wonder if the container "type" makes a difference. So which is it...Glass or Plastic

I never even thought that it could make a difference. I have always used glass, and it usually works.

I've used both and never noticed a difference.

In most cases, it doesn't matter. However, with some fragile, fleshy plants such as African violet, contact with a sharp plastic edge or damp terra cotta could damage the tender stem. That is probably what the plastic wrap suggestion was all about. A glass container with a rounded rim is always safe.
