Is there anything special to caring for Asiatic lillies????

A neighbor gave me some and I was just curious if they need special care.

Heres some info I found

Quote
Planted in full sun to part shade in rich, well-drained soil, and given little care, Asiatic Lilies reproduce freely, forming substantial clumps. Hardy in zones 3-8.
Hope this helps!

Frustrated, I like your John Wayne quote.....he's my husbands idol.....lol

I have some asiatic lilies and they really are easy to care for....mine were even stripped bare last year by something and I thought they were goners but they looked beautiful this year. They like to have good drainage and to have their blooms in the sun and roots in shade if possible.

That redish thing is my asiatic lilly. It's in full sun all day. It hasn't multiplied. Last year the drought was so bad it didn't bloom for long. This year it was very pretty. We've had rain so maybe next spring I'll have more.

I planted 50 and the rabbits ate them as fast as the new shoots emerged. After giving up hope that the rabbits would die from diarrhea, I boorowed some live traps from a friend. Caught two so far and took them for a ride after dark to a former teachers house who once gave me a "D"
I hope they give her much joy(not).
After the new shoots get about 6 inches high the rabbits lose interest. Mine mostly recovering and I go to bed at night with a smile on my face.

Thanks for the info on the rabbits, maybe my lab will keep them away. laugh . NOT. She is so lazy, she won't chase a biscuit. laugh

The lillies that were given me are white, and then one is a orange? color. I can not wait till they come up next year. Since they are almost done blooming.
