I have a planter box it has brick its in a shady area. I need some advice on plants to put on. Would prefer some colorful plants that will last till fall. zone 8b.

if any sun at all, and what times it does or doesn't.

Im from San Antonio,Tx. It gets no sun at all. Full shade morning till sundown. DEBBIE.

Here's a few: Liriope Muscari, Convallaria majalis, periwinkle, Dicentra formosa (fern leaf bleeding heart), Primroses and Ligularia (Rayflowers).

I've been researching shade gardens recently, to handle an area of my yard that is in complete shade.

The Burgess catalog offers a complete shade garden assortment--it's called "Color in the Shade" and it's an assortment of perennials.

Here's what they list:

Regal Blue Hosta
Red Trinity plant
Mixed Astilbe
Blue Columbine
lily of the Valley
Fern

I'm already growing the Astilbe, Columbine and lily of the Valley in other areas, and they're very pretty.
