Anyone here grow orchids? If so, what kind(s)? Do you have a favorite?

I find orchids to be one of the most interesting (and beautiful) plants ever. Currently I have 7, but will be getting more in the future!

Hi lily, I don't have orchids yet, but that is one of the next plants I'd like to add to my "collection." I'm a bit worried though, because I'm not usually good with flowering plants, just green plants. Are orchids fenicky (spelling?). How do I best care for them?

hi lily!
I have 2 orchids smile One's a Ph... something, and the other's a D... something lol. They're both pretty ^.^ They aren't flowering though. that's because there isn't enough air circulation, and stuff in the house. I think i'll put a fan up there. its just humid up there right now.

But ya, they're both definately growing in foliage pretty well! I can't wait for mine to flower laugh

Hiya!

I have a phalaenopsis which is in desperate need of being repotted-or at least have something covering its roots better (I did get it this way. it had fallen off a shelf and the mix went everywhere- but the roots still look pretty good)
and a Kenneth Bivens Brassia-she's really pretty, although done flowering for now. I'm hoping to get more, but I've been having trouble with getting the perfect combination of light and humidity.

Orchids have been "rumored" of being hard to grow, but actually that's not always the truth. In fact, most orchids are quite easy to care for (provided that you know a few growing rules). But don't all plants require a bit of culture info so you know how to grow them? grinnnn

For more info, visit the American Orchid Society, at AOS Homepage . Click HERE (for care sheets) .

Have fun! angell
