Dragon flower... Dracunculus vulgaris

My mother was very proud of this lily, because no-one else had one! She just called it her "Black lily" Can anyone help me put a name to this very unique flower?

WOW ! ! ! !
Bill, that's quite a flower. How big is it?
Wish I was half as good at taking pictures like that. We don't live so far apart you and I, and it's odd how different the flora is between here and there. But ya'll in washington are wetter than us (and we call ourselves ducks...haha)

The flower itself is about 10 inches tall. The tip of it stood about 20 inches above the ground...
Thank you for helping to keep our little Washington secret intact. We can't let anyone know how really nice the weather can be up here.
wink
Remember, everyone! If you live in Washington, you don't tan... you rust!

Thank you Weezie, I believe that you're right about the identification as well as it being a member of the arum family! With your info, I searched and found out that it's often called a "Dragon flower" and sometimes called a "Viagra lily"...... hmmmmmmm....

Thank you for the help!

Hey, glad to have solved the mystery!!
But I tripped over it merely coincidentally!
At my family reunion/grad party my niece was asking questions about flowers, gardening, and some bulbs in this BRECK'S catalog she had and of course I began to leaf through it an drool and turned the page, and it popped out at me, and I'm like hey, that's the one, ooh~ooh!!! A few of the grad's were strangely staring at me like she's gone!!!
Anyhow, I thought it looked like at and came home at midnight, had to check the BRECK'S .com out and send in the info!!!!!

I'm still working on the orchid...........

Weezie wink
