HELP!!!!!
I had two stalks of this plant given to me by a co-worker but was told (and believe) I had it in a pot too large. During the process of "downsizing", one of the stalks broke just above the roots eek a clean cut. Will the top part root and what to do with the bottom part? I've tried putting the root pieces of other plants in water and in soil and all they did was rot ters Is this now a lost cause????

Chinese evergreen cuttings do root in water quite readily, although it does take a while and they do sometimes rot before they root. Changing the water weekly will help and don't use hard water.

The portion left in the pot should send up some new growth in a few weeks to replace the broken portion.

In effect, you have inadvertently pruned your plant!
