Anyone know how to deal with lilac suckers? Would landscape cloth work to hold them down? I love lilac but this is only a small garden and I don't want it over-run.

Also, my rhodo leaves have some brown spots on them near the edges. Only on some leaves. It's NOT root weevil damage I'm sure. I'm thinking it could be soil nutrition, or lack of pruning. . .??

Landscape fabric is fine for blocking out less aggressive growth. For lilac suckers I would recommend a barrier cloth. I cant remember exactly what it is called, but it is a heavy black plastic sheet. I use it all the time to permantly block all growth surrounding trees, etc. How large of an area do you want to block? I might be able to send you some as I have rolls of it at work.
