have some brown and yellow leaves and looks like some mold as well...help...do not want to lose this elegant tree

Hi Lah,

Can I ask, did you have any other bug problem with the plant over the summer/?????

And how were it's growing conditions over the summer,
*ie: watering, was it late at night, not enough and too dry, etc.
fertilizers, yes you did, and what kind and/or none at all..that'll help us narrow it down a bit for you..

Well not to over simplify your situation but, are you sure its really a problem? When I hear Tulip Magnolia I think of Magnolia X soulangiana (or a close relative) these are deciduous trees and in our area when they shed their leaves they look much as you have described. A photo would be quite helpful and I am sorry I could not be of more assistance. Good luck.
