Brian,
Did someone put in "topsoil" for you
when your house went in??
Usually that's a sign of "swamp" dirt *for a lack of a better word* came from an area where it was wet all the time...
I had that sort of situation, I have raised vegetable beds and gardens.....
I've ordered 3 loads of tandem truck loads for all my beds, the first and second was really nice top soil, but the third, I could tell, *by the
weeds that grew* where it came from....
Same as you, it had swampy
weeds...
For me, I just covered my beds with landscaping fabrics, and no mulch or anything on top....
and alot of compost to make the soil very loose and if I see one popping thru, I can pluck it very easily!!!
How wide spread is it in your lawn???
Just in patches or over all????
Something I also noticed is, to cut down on it's advancing even more, I'd mow more, or more closely or something.... to not allow the
weed to produce so many
seeds, I can see a bunch in your picture.
Each
seed head/pod can contain hundreds of
seeds..
I'd see if I could get rid of those????
I'm guessin' here, as I don't know how wide spread the
weeds are???
But mowing the
seeds often would be my first avenue of helping eradicate it...
See if some of the other gardeners come thru with a bit more or different advice for you!!!
Weezie
Glad to hear you made out ok with Charley,
We've been following the storm closely here.
