Iowa,
When you heard this, did they say why??
Other than root system maybe????????

I have strawberries, (A BA~ZILLION)
I do know you should pinch the runners.......
Because they will cause the plant to want
to reproduce in making new plants,
instead of reproducing with fruit!!!!!

Make sense???

Iowa,
I'm willing to bet it was the runners.....
Because they spend all their time making new
plants and not on concentraiting on making fruit..

Do you have strawberries???
I have them, and fight the woodchucks, ants, birds, slugs, mice, and my children to get them.
It is soooooooo nice to come out in the morning
and pick some strawberries....yum!

Oh Weezie... you forgot the "chickmunks" as my daughter used to call them. Them rascals never let me get one single red, ripe, strawberry. They would beat me to it at sunrise every single day! mad

Last summer I decided to try to grow strawberries in a large pot on my 2nd story deck - no chipmunks, but only 1 berry. Duh
