Howdy gang. How's tricks? I just found you while desperately searching for more inexpensive solar fountain pumps.

I am a gardner in zone 7 that has pretty much converted totally to native perennials (being as they are the only things that seem to survive our year-long droughts). I started this venture 3 years ago and you should see these now. WOWZIE.

Anyway, this year my sister got me a book on bird and hummingbird gardening. I already had quite a few of them, but have been having a wonderful time finding homes for some new plants. So, if anyone wants to quiz me, go ahead, I won't mind. (except I don't know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow).

Question, the other day, someone gave me a new version to this rhyme about the first 3 years of perennial life, and I've forgotten them. Can you help.
"first they ??, then they grow, then they show"
and
"first they sleep, then they creep, then they ??

Hi Morningglori! wavey

"First they sleep, then they creep, then they leap!" This refers to the first, second and third year of perennials. I've always loved this saying! muggs

Have a beautiful day! kit

Thanks gang. Nice to be here.
JV, I'm in Arlington, so we are definitely neighbors.
Patches, thank you so much for the rest of that phrase. It was driving me crazy. I tried to come up with anything else I could think of that rhymes ('then they weap', then they peep, then they play video games....?
