An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Legend of Saint Patrick
Good St. Patrick travelled far, to teach God's Holy Word
And when he came to Erin's sod, a wondrous thing occurred
He plucked a shamrock from the earth and held it in His hand
To symbolise the Trinity that all might understand
The first leaf for the Father
And the second for the Son
The third leaf for the Holy Spirit
All three of them in one.
We are going to the School for Family Fun Night,
we donated a Gardening Basket, and it's a Chinese Auction,
and the proceeds go to the FOOD BANK....
The kids get to go on the rreallllllly bigggg bouncing games,
they bring in about 4 or 5 and the kids get to bounce and play...
Should be fun..
flw FOR GARDENMOM & ALL YOU OTHER WILD IRISH ROSES flw
I thought you'd appreciate this fragment from verse two of "The Wearing Of The Green". My maternal grandmother used to sing it to me when I was very small...
"You may take the shamrock from your hat, and cast it on the sod
But 'twill take root and flourish still, tho' underfoot 'tis trod.
When the law can stop the blades of grass from growing as they grow,
And when the leaves in summertime their verdure dare not show,
Then I will change the color I wear in my caubeen,
But till that day, I'll stick for aye to wearing of the green."
(lyric by Dion Bouclcault)
