Have any of you tried the different veggie burgers, any comments on the brands?

actually i like the morningstar brand the best. their "chicken" patties are pretty good and the kids like their "chicken" nuggets.

I had that black bean burger at Chili's. It was great.

I went to the sub shop today after a meeting and what is a Garden Burger? I asked the person taking orders and she said she couldn't explain it so I didn't order it.

wow- i just read through Vegan #1!

what does the b12 vitamin (i think that's what number it was) do for your body?

i think i am in the minority here but being vegan actually makes me feel better and i usually have more energy and then when i go back to meats and dairy for days my body goes into shock and i have the runs and an upset stomach. we go vegan several times a year (religious reasons) Lent being the longest and I typically feel SO much better!

yes an addiction to sugar and caffeine is very hard to give up. i'm not a pepsi drinker (the stuffs nasty LOL) but i was a heavy Coca Cola drinker (hubby works for coca cola)! we're talking maybe 2-3 cans a day! i got so sick of felling like crap i tried to go cold turkey and by day 2 i was knocked out in bed and could hardly move! i realized it was a physical addiction and weaned my body off it. i started drinking 64 oz of water a day and after about a month- no more soda! i feel so much better. i do have a glass once every few weeks if we go out to a restaurant, but otherwise i avoid it. it can be hard- but you'll feel better!

pagarden, I was sick for a while several months ago and got very run down. A friend here suggested B12. A deficiency in B12 can cause a lot of things like burning of the tongue, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, intermittent constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, menstrual symptoms, psychological symptoms, and nervous system problems, such as numbness and tingling in the feet and hands. My main symptoms is fatigue, but I think it's just from being sick so long. I haven't noticed a big difference since starting the B12, but I'm also not sick anymore.

I blew the vegan, no dairy, no sugar thing tonight. I ate a peanut butter sandwich with about 32 Pringles and washed it down with you guessed it, Pepsi. You are absolutely right about sugar and meat making you feel bad. I can certainly tell a difference with just a yucky feeling after eating meat, and my stomach gets bloated after the sugar. The withdrawal from the Pepsi is terrible though so I'm taking the bloating. I tried to do without it for 2 days and was very sleepy.

So you do eat meat sometimes?

Well, you and me both! I do eat a little dairy from time to time but no meat! I just feel awful after eating meat! I feel so good from eating fruit, veggies, nuts and grains...drink lotsa' water..etc. My energy level is sky high!! Guilty with beer though...does beer count as vegan? wink

Yes, other than the fasting periods for church.

We have a farm about 30 miles from here that I buy the beef, chicken, eggs, and raw milk from. Yes, we drink raw milk. Oh and they make their own cheese too. I have to say the beef is the best I have ever tasted. The chicken and beef is hormone, antibiotic free and it tastes awesome! The beef even well done is so soft and tender and actually has taste to it! It's my weekly trip. smile

Oh and for me I had to to the caffeine withdrawl slowly. I would stop until I started to get a headache (usually on the second day) then I'd drink enough coke to make my headache go away (about a 1/2 a can) then I'd wait for it to return and have a little. Slowly I could go a few days then after a while it was a week and before I knew it I was over it! smile Sugar is another I can't do without actually. I just tried to cut back on the refined stuff. The obvious candies and cookies and such. I say just try slowly. Start with 1 at a time and you can do it. smile

Pagarden, I used to work on a dairy farm and couldn't stand the smell of the raw milk. I need my 2%.

Holy crap Sheri, that pretty much describes how I've been all last month, they thought it was a virus and low blood sugar. The tingling in the hands started last week.

Hi Tamara wavey
Did the doctor say it was because of low blood sugar? Did he do tests? Are you going to do a follow up? Am I asking too many questions? wink Just concerned. kissies

I've always had low blood sugar and low blood pressure. I've actually had doctors tell me that I need the caffeine and I need to eat salt (which I don't because I just don't like it except on tomato sandwiches). I've tried diet drinks just to get the caffeine but they taste sooo bad.

Tamara, what are you going to do about that? If it's viral there's no medicine to make it better. Are you able to work?

My doctors appt went fine. Thanks for asking. I'm totally recovered, just a little crazy. I blew it to h flw flw l today though. I ate oatmeal for breakfast, had a chocolate bar before 10:00, then ate a pack of peanut butter crackers, had Mexican for lunch, then girl scout cookies and hershey kisses and 2 12oz Pepsi's. I don't know what happened to me. How many calories is that? I worked out for 1 hour and 20 minutes tonight and ate a grapefruit for dinner.

Nope, the tingling lasted a couple of days. I go for a complete physical on the 22nd of this month. I vomitted for 10 days straight with that unknown virus I had, it just wore me out for awhile. I don't feel as bad now but today after supper I felt a little weak. Sometimes I'm dizzy or nauseaus(sp?)

I've got 4 left and I'm thinking about just going ahead and eating them so it's over. Every once in a while I get an obsession about something (like when I ate the cake batter) and it's easier to eat it ALL right away because I can't get it off my mind.
