Hi!
First posting to this list! wavey
Do you have any suggestion how I can use old wood window frames for the home or garden? The do not have any glass and the white paint is chipping off. I am not sure what size, but they are not large. The frames are square with a piece of wood down the middle.

Thank you for any ideas! cool

Have a great and dry Monday! shocked

When we bought our condo, the people who were selling had large, old, weathered window frames hanging above the fireplace. They didn't have any pictures in them, but that may be an idea. Maybe a collage. You could sand them down to the wood and insert collage. Would look kinda cool. Maybe do it in a grouping of 3?

i have seen them with a home made wooden box on the bottom for flowers and screw the window frame to the back of the flower box and wrap grape vine around it, looks really pretty, find some good brackets and you can attatch to the wall as well or set on a table.
Another idea is to just attatch the frame to the wall and plant some fast growing vines and let them attatch to it, looks nice too.
Good luck with your project!!

Some people convert them into pot racks for the kitchen.

You could make a shadow box with it. My mother did it with hers with pieces of my grandparent's hankies and fishing floats, their fishing licenses, etc. It also has old love letters that they wrote to each other...beautiful!

Thanks to everyone for their wonderful ideas! Everything sounds great! clp

Another idea I came across was to make part of the window frame a bulletin board and part of the window frame a chalk board and you have a cool message board for your kitchen.

Thanks again!

We have two window frames we put mirrors behind. Our frames have 6 places for windows and each measures about 8 by 10 so we had no problem finding the mirrors.

My husband repainted the frames but it wasn't really necessary.

Good luck and have fun with whatever you do with them.

I used one that used to have 4 windows and put in 4 paintings. wanted it to look older than the faded white, so rubbed in shoe polish (sister's idea!)

I've also used the single ones for silk screens. a cheap way to get huge silk screens.
