Here is a picture of the infamous Snowbird you've heard about. This is a Dark-Eyed Junco. They Summer way up in upper Canada but in Winter move down into the lower 48 where they are a common visitor to feeders, most often coming just before, during, and after snowstorms, hence giving them the name, "Snowbird". They like to feed on the ground or large flat surfaces like platform feeders. I spread Black Oil Sunflower
seeds on the wooden porch railings in my yard. They really seem to like that for some reason. They have black/Dark-gray head and upper body with a very contrasting white belly. Most striking is their PINK bills and legs!
