hey ya'll! I was searching the net for the abbreviation for canada and I found this site that is very interesting and it explains all about it. it also explains how to address mail going to canada and how it should be written,etc...thought this would come in handy with people doing trades,etc with canadians canada postal info

Canadians can be so confusing , hey I'm Canadian and I don't follow those rules. The only thing worthwhile right now for trading would be our snow. Hmmm, I wonder how much a flat rate box costs?

Tamara Good morning . How do I find out the Customs rules for mailing live plants and seeds form U.S. to Canada ie to you or Franny for example.

Could someone explain why they find mailing to Canada confusing. I think I'm missing something here.

Christina I was told by our local Post Office I had to check the regulations for mailing plants and seeds to Canada they even gave me a special label to use. I just cannot find out what the law are and they couldn't help me.

Go to the USPS postal site but in postage for a package or envelope depending on which you are sending. Put in the persons address as requested and if there are any special rules that option will come up then. Or at least that's how I think I did it. I haven't run into any special rules for Frannies address yet. And we manage to trade without a problem.

I have received many seeds and cuttings from the U.S. Nothing special is needed. Most people don't bother filling out a customs declaration form.

I read your link to Canada Post, Jaime. Too funny!!!! Obviously written by a bureaucrat with way too much time on his/her hands. Ignore it all and address mail as you would in the U.S.

I consistently do LARGE monthly mailouts and use the same format as the U.S.

I have had mail sent with one name,(John) no address but they had the city & postal code and the letter was received.
Just send as usual, it'll get there..

No, unless the delivery guy needs glasses.LOL
Really it is as simple as your system. No caps are needed. The postal code as your Zip code is probably the most important one.

i have sent some seeds to the states and have had some sent to me, i just put them in an envelope and thats it, i put the stamp and dropped them in the box, i think as long as the address is there and a return number, there shouldnt be any problem, some one with too much time on their hands and when i have gotten my seeds you can clearly hear them in the pack

Penny do people send you stuff put regular stamps
or do they put Canadian stamps on them...
We have relatives in Canada, and my mom is always making trips down to the PO for Canadian stamps...

i have had both come, ususally if they are sending from the US, then they just add a couple of extra US stamps and that takes care of it.
same if i am sending across the border, i just add a couple of Canadian stamps to cover any costs.
