Here's one you need...
Ad-Aware
...but you really need more than one.
The other ones are on my other computer, but someone will come along before I can get my computer up and tell you what they are.

Spyware keeps track of your surfing habits and adware stores ads on your computer.
Ad aware is good (as Cindy mentioned) and Spybot is good. You should run both.
I think both are free downloads.

If they're not..PM me.

Oh, BTW, both spyware and adware store cookies and unnecessary temorary internet files as well as have the potential to hijack your browser among many other things.

If you have XP..."Microsoft Antispyware"..is also free from Microsoft download area. It works for spyware, adware and trojans.

Another thing you might try is to change Browsers, I use Opera. IE has to many hooks into the Operating System, things like Active X controls. (A really bad idea!)

Another free Browser is Firefox, both Opera and Firefox have built-in popup blocker.

As far as the free Microsoft Anti-Spyware program, it is still a beta version so it will be buggy.
