Those are some great links! Thanks a lot for them. I am hoping some of them will help me to find my step-brothers.

My aunt has done alot of family research. It's all very neat! Found a great great (i think) uncle that was wounded by Indians during the Indian wars, nursed back to health by an Indian woman, married her and then started fighting FOR the Indians. It has the makings for a great historical romance!

Hi,
I have been doing genealogy research for many years and have been to many sites.

Here are sites I've found very useful.

http://www.ancestry.com is a pay site but has some free sections. You can also sign up for a 14 day free trial.

http://www.genforum.genealogy.com allows you to search, and leave messages, by surname and has been very useful to me.

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~cgaunt/gen_web.html is a site that allows you to search for state and county records by first selecting a state then a county

Good luck to anyone looking for their ancestors.

Glenda

What programs are you all using to map your family trees?

I also do alot of genealogy work. The program I use is PAF (Personal Ancestry tree) free from Family History/Latter Day Saints

Speaking of Family history...My mother bought a bunch of stuff at an estate auction, and after she got what she wanted out of the boxes of stuff, she pushed the rest of the stuff off on me. In that box was another box with a lot of picture slides, all of them were marked family pictures and had a name on them, all were from the late 1950's...My mom said just throw what you don't want away. That was 7 years ago and yesterday I posted on a genealogy message board and was able to find a relative who wanted these slides. The person who's family the slides were of, was so excited that someone had saved those slides all these years.
