I have a shoot of lucky bamboo that has been rooting in water for several weeks. I know it needs to be transfered to a pebble tray, I was just wondering what kind of rocks are recommended? All help is appreciated.

You know those pretty colored pebbles that you find on the bottom of fishtanks? That's what i use I've experimented with lotsa stuff, and my lucky bamboo (which is really a form of dracania, but whatever) hasn't had any serious reactions to it. From what i can tell, the thing is just fine growing in water. My mom has one growing in marbles

I just got a lucky bamboo today, thought it would be a neat little addition to my collection. I am wondering how much water I need to put it in though. I have a cute little vase with marbles on the bottom, but how much water do I need? Do they need any minerals or anything added to the water to grow?

Also was wondering, is there any way of propagating a bamboo? I know mine have little leaves like growing off of it, would that work if I snipped hem off?

Its not exactly bamboo :p Its a thing that begines with a D. I can't think of it right now though lol. Anywho just fill up the vase until you think there's enough water in it. The roots should be covered. I have my entire vase almost completely full of water. You don't need to add any nutrients if you don't want to.

I think the way you propegate them is by cutting them with a sharp knife in a sort of diagional fashion. I'm not sure though, so don't do it yet :p I'm pretty sure you have to do it along the actual stem though.

Well Ive had mine for about3 years now... it has 2 groupings of leaves. - now... we just scrubbed the container and cleaned the marbles... as our leaves were looking a little yellowy.... we took an old toothbruch and gently scrubbed the 'hardness' from our hard warter off the stalk... and put it back in the water and in about a week... its beautiful green again... just think it needed freshening up... BUt we do use marbles.... it seemed easier for us to clean!!!
