Well, thanks to Jamie, I'm on freecycle. What a GREAT place!!! the one for my area is a busy place! Anyways, I listed a couch and then was looking at some things and saw that someone has a 22 1/4" X 46 1/4" acrylic bubble skylight. I've inquired about it thinking it would perhaps make a decent greenhouse for helping to start some of my seeds (basement might not be big enough!!) What do you think? I don't know if it is clear or one of those "frosted" looking ones...but I'd think a skylight would be clear. Would that even matter??

Sounds like it could make a great top for a cold frame. I'd go for it.

About 30 years ago, we built a 30' by 15', 3-frequency, icosahedron geodesic dome and covered it with 8-mil clear vinyl. We were growing tomatoes in January when it was 15 degrees F. outside, but 92 degrees F. inside the dome. We heated the whole dome with a propane heater. Condensation would form on the inside of the vinyl and drip down like rain, thereby watering the plants.

Thinking about trying tomatoes, peppers, and squash in it first.

Thornius, we thought about making one of our own...a big one...but where we live, you have to have a permit to build anything larger than 6'x4'.

that is how it will be when we move to Alaska. I'm planning on building a large greenhouse then.
