Well the leak in the ceiling has gotten progressively worse and like normal I refused to try to fix it. This week matters finally came to a head.

Soooo......my wife and I talked with a realtor and he showed us an adorable little cottage that just came on the market that not only has an excellent roof but is under a clear glass dome for year-round indoor/outdoor climate control and has a pleasant little garden to go with it, too. We closed on it today.

Actually this is the interior of the Opryland Hotel here in Nashville Tennessee. It has the World's largest indoor garden with acres of tropical foresta under ENORMOUS glass roofs. It has miles of paths threading through an unbelievable array of flowers, tyropical plants, and streams, waterfalls, boat rides down rivers, and schools of stunning Koi. The rooms start at around $500.00 a night but to walk through the gardens is free. They have restaurants, bars (for Cindy), and coddeeshops hidden here and there throughot the various jungles. This hotel has had whole shows devoted to it on Victory Garden on PBS.....and it is only 8 miles west of my house at the site of the new Grand Ole Opry.

I go there several times a year to watch the tourists. My daughter and her husband met there when they were employees of the hotel. They used to get us all sorts of Freebies there. She lives in Texas now, but it is STILL one of my favorite places to go.

I stayed there when my HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) group went to national competitions many moons ago (1993??). It was gorgeous then and I would surely enjoy it much more now that I am older...one day I'll go back! thumbup

I'm here right now. I got here yesterday. Quite the difference from Ontario, Canada!! The accents and the terms I hear used are sooooo different..."ya'll, uh-huh, I tell you what...". I've never used those in my life. I'm having sooooo much fun!
Going to Memphis then Arkansas. I'm going to see Comfrey! clp We'll post pics!!!

Oh that is so cool. Do you get to meet Thorny when you are in his neck of the woods? I had no idea you were traveling.

So glad you are having fun!

I wish I could meet Thorny!! It's funny..because as I'm driving around I keep looking thinking I'll see him. nutz And when I was going through Kentucky (which was such a beautiful state!), I kept thinking about Cindy!
After Comfrey's..it's north to Chicago then home....err..unless I decide to stay forever..then I'll just have my pets shipped to me..(cuz as silly as it sounds..I miss them.)

Actually I haven't met Christina. I don't drive and don't have a car so I don't get out that much.

I'm in Little Rock now so unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Thorny! But I have to thank-you Thorny for telling me to go see the opryland hotel! What an outstanding place. I just can't put it into words...and pictures don't even say much. "Ya'll" just have to go!
Now searching for a place to eat..then off to Comfrey's tomorrow! grinnnn Now THAT I'm looking forward to!
I'll start a seperate thread for that visit.
Ya'll take care.
Christina

Thorny, that place looks so cool, I would definitely visit it if I get down that way.

I can't believe you posted about this the same time Christina is down there!!!! That is so ironic.

Christina , have a fun and safe trip! grinnnn

I have had my grandson in the hospital last week with a stomach virus and I caught it Tuesday and had to go to the ER myself. They also found that I had mild pneumonia, too but that has cleared up pretty well. I am SO disappointed that I did not get to see Christina, but I was delighted to see she was standing just 6 feet from the spot where I was standing last month.

The Opryland Hotel is just TOO incredible for words! Acres and acres of lush tropical rainforest COMPLETELY INDOORS!!!! shk with a glass and metal girder roof some 300-400 feet above the forests. There are a total of 3 forests in all in the hotel allmade completely of living plants, no artificial ones, in a balanced floral ecosystem. One, The Cascades, is based on the forest ecosystem of the Appalachian Mountains complete with waterfalls, The Delta is based on the Louisiana Bayou country complete with live oaks and LIVING Spanish Moss. They have a man-made river where you can take boat rides. The other , The Conservatory, is based on lush, Amazonian type rainforests with liana, banana trees with fruit, figs, and climbing vines everywhere. You constantly expect to see howler monkeys, parrots, and jaguars, but for health and safety reasons, these forests are devoid of animal, bird, and insect life.

Notice any thing different? I'M TYPING ON A NEW KEYBOARD AND MOUSE!!! I was by Walmart today, and they had a cordless keyboard and mouse set for only $15.00!!! I snatched one up so fast I nearly pulled my arm out of socket.
