I've been carefully watching over a strawberry that had grown to 2 1/2 inch diameter, waiting for it to reach perfection. This morning I visited the berry, hoping to get a pix for Bob...

[Linked Image]

Immediately after taking the photo, war was declared, resulting in the death by salt of 156 slimers, and the squooshing of 12 others by boot.
Slugs around the world should take note that they shouldn't mess mit der gardenhelper's strawberries, nor his fleurs!

Ah huh. Slugs have gotten most of my strawberries every year but this year.
I've beat them back this year and can't even find a slug or a snail around, anywhere.
To bad I didn't plant any strawberries. Next year I'll be back at it.

Hope you win your war.

Hi Bill,

What a shame about that strawberry--bummer, dude! And it looked like it was absolutely luscious, too.

I hope you at least got some satisfaction from annihilating those slimers!
