I needed a place to put a bunch of newly potted plants in order to make room for family at Easter dinner. I drew up a design and my DH whipped this up last Friday for my kitchen. Six 2x2s and some scrap wood that he cut into slats. It's six feet tall, 18" deep and 34" wide.

I love it and it cost less than $20!! <img border="0" alt="[clappy]" title="" src="graemlins/clappy.gif" />
I think he still has enough scrap wood to make a potting bench...hmmmm wink

Dianna,
I hope you're having some good weather down there. I talked to my cousin in Spartanburg Saturday and she was sure hurtin' from her first day in the garden. eek Can't wait to feel that way myself -- he he.

Phoenix,
If you'd like a close-up picture to see how it's put together, let me know. 2x4s should work fine too. And Yes, that's a Florida Beauty

Sheri,
Great idea -- I'll send him on the road, hammer in hand, in exchange for exotic plants. laugh He's so handy. It all started last year when I said I'd like to have a winepress and when we were looking at $700 presses he said "I could build that way cheaper!"
He's learning to keep his mouth shut...poor guy never gets out of the basement anymore!

I'm hoping to have the bench this week. I'll post a pic when it's up and running.

We are having beautiful weather today. A little warm with the temp being 76, but I'm not complaining. I want to get the garden planted, but it is soaked. Hopefully, it will dry out by tomorrow.

Mating bumblebees chased me off our deck while I was looking at gardening catalogs. I filled up the hummingbird feeders and are eagerly waiting their arrival.

Sure could have used a potting bench today!

The weather is beautiful here too but it's too wet to plow or plant. I've been sick for over 2 months and I'm finally feeling better. So, hopefully things will dry out a little and I'll get out into the yard and work until I'm exhausted loving every minute of it.

By the way GiselaT, great plant rack. You're fortunate that your DH is so handy.

Think the prospect of building 10 of those plant stands just for one person would cause any deflation? grinnnn At least you could get him through the door with a little elbow grease... confused laugh

Kudos to you and your DH on the plant stand. I am now the proud owner of 2 folding tables plunked next to 2 large windows. These hold the house plants and some seedlings at the moment. There's an amatuer saw mill and a handy man nearby. What was I thinkin'? I could have myself a couple of cool plant stands!

Poor guy, he has to go back to work after his days off, just to get a rest from my 'projects'! lala

Poor FH. I have him working on a "hitching post" and a picnic table at the time, but am anxiously awaiting the potting bench pictures. Good thing that he likes to do wood crafts! wink

Gee, it must be nice to have hubbies that will do it for you. If I bought the supplies, they'd have to magically put themselves together, then float into the house, and kick my DH out from his spot in front of the TV....ooops...did I say that? grinnnn
