Hi! I'm pretty new at this gardening thing. I have an idea of what I want to do, but the only problem is the one are I want to put a garden is, the water is really wet from drainage. I don't know if anything had ever been planted in there before. Does anyone know what I can do or what kind of plants can thrive in this type of soil?

Thanks

Bev

Bev,
I am a Western New Yorker too!!

Check out the question in the "Gardener's Chat"....That says "Bog Gardening" (Weezie)
that Bess of the Piedmont asked. Then scroll down to the 3rd reply by Weezie and I put in about 6 sites to go to visit on bog and or wet conditions.......
That should get you started in some wet plants.....There's tons of plants that enjoy wet feet.

Happy Gardening.

Bev,

Do you want a bog garden??? Or would you rather drain for another type of garden???

If you want another type of garden and the spot has to be drained, you can check with the County Extention in your area and they could help give advice.... laugh ....Dwight

How large of a garden are u talking about?

Most of your common flowers and vegetables need good drainage.
One way to avoid bad drainage would be to create a raised bed.
