HAS ANYONE EVER USED HERBS AS HOUSEPLANTS, LIKE FOR A SUNNY WINDOW ? I HAD TONS OF HERB seeds (CHIVES, BASIL, PARSLEY, ETC) AND PLANTED THEM AND THEY ARE ALL SPROUTING AND DOING FINE. I WONDER IF THEY WOULD BE OK AND CONTINUE LIVING IF I BROUGHT THEM IN FOR WINTER LATER THIS YEAR? confused

I had a herb window garden in my sunny kitchen window and it did just fine....I don't see why you couldn't have them in the window since I did..... smile

I grow a few herbs inside all the time (thyme, sage, peppermint, basil)...I think the key is to give them as much sun as possible and not to overwater them. I also have a large pot of mixed herbs that I grow outside next to the back door (which is closest to the kitchen.) I leave it outside through winter and so far they've come back every year.

I've never been able to get chives or thyme to sprout from seed. Have any tips for me?
