I'm just curious. For those who have had problems with squirrels, have you ever tried feeding them? We really like squirrel's. We enjoy watching them, and they are so cute. This year, I planted about 30 bulbs in one of our flower boxes. The next day, I found a bunch of bulb's all dug up and partly eaten. I couldn't get angry. After all, I did - accidently - dig up the nuts the little guy/gal had hidden there. I just kept picturing how cute the must have been upon their discovery I left the half eaten bulbs there, and put nuts in the back yard. A couple of the bulbs I plopped back in during a muddy rain. Even though they were eaten, they appeared to begin sprouting. 9 of the 30 did come up, and a few of them were the one's that began sprouting after the squirrel dug them up and partly ate! Well, we give them a handful of nuts every day. We've just made a squirrel feeder that we're going to put in one of my garden's where they run on the fence. I haven't had any problems with them. And, since I left the half eaten bulbs, they seemed to tire of them, and stopped digging the remaining one's up. Our family, can't ever say that anyone I know has every feed squirrels....they are a huge pain in the butt around here...I do know a lot of people that eat them though...lol I never have, but a friend of my hubbys brought down squirrel dumplings once.....yuck....I can't eat anything that is in the rodent family....I've almost wrecked a million times from swerving to miss one of this little guys....My views tend to run with Bob on this one...lol If it makes you happy to feed them and watch them though, I say go ahead...you have to do what makes you happy in life....

I have no mercy on that "rodent". if it was rats that were running all over people's yards there would be an outcry. These rats just have long tails... :-) Matter of fact, one of my goals is to shoot 100 squirrels before the yaer is over. I'm up to 36 in just one month...

OK, I gotta be missing something! There's all this talk of squirrels on this thread, the relative merits of feeding/shooting them, then along comes Bill and posts a picture of...............er..............a possum?!!
I'm no country gal, but I sure know a squirrel when I see one, and I sure didn't see one in that picture! Is this an inside joke?

I have no problem with shooting a squirrel if there being a pest..But i myself can't kill one.. Beside i use to have feeders all around my old house..Even had 2 squirrels named Chip and Dale.. Had them almost coming eating out my hand..But had to move so hoping the other people are being nice to them.. Bob is not as really bad as he sounds.. He just a wild crazy guy.. Have a great day all!!!

about the squirrels... they taste really good in brown gravy over mashed potatoes... but really I have to tell you all this funny... My uncle (who would feed a squirrel or eat one that some one else shot - don't matter much either way) has a mean streak and teases the squirrels in his yard. He has a worn-out screen door screen hanging from a tree branch that he puts dry corn slathered with peanut butter on. You should see the poor (?) squirrels trying to eat the corn and peanut butter and hang on for dear life as the spring bounces them from here to **** and back
