I would like to thank the members of The Gardener's Forum in some small way. There is not much that I can do for you, but I thought that some of you might enjoy having a personalized signature button to display beneath your posts.

If you would like me to set up your button, let me know which photo you'd like and what you'd like inscribed on it. I'll fix you up as soon as I can....

You'll find find a collection blank (and claimed) buttons at The Forum Button page but feel free to browse through all of my wallpaper photos until you find the one that suits your personality... If you REALLY can't find the right one there, whine a lil bit... With close to 20,000 pix, I'm sure I can find something that fits!

Hi Soni! Sorry, but I only make one button per pix. I will repost a few "lost" roses in the desktop photos again tomorrow, and you are more than welcome to pick one of them (check the availability on the button page ..)! I'll fix you right up if you like one of them....

I may be blind but I don't see the avatar section in my profile section...has it been left off for some reason??

Also I'd love my own button!! I love the pink asiatic lilies in the Buds and Blooms section (top, first row) and if you put Debby on it I'd be thrilled! I'd love to use that same pic as my avatar as well if it has become a admin. duty only thing.

Button looks just fine Bill! Thank you very much!!!

Okay, I'm still feeling silly about this...but when I click on Profile/messages....then all I see is *View/Update profile*...and on that page I swear there is no mention of the word avatar other then the option of having others not see my avatar. Duh

Bill, Help...I have looked and looked for the select Avatar button but can't find it. I go to the Profile/Messages then View/Update Profile but my only choice for avator is to show or not to show Avatar of another. What am I doing wrong?

Good morning Vikki..... The "Select a different Avatar Image" button is in the middle of the page, between "your birthdate" and "your signature". You should be able to find it and change it to something else now!
Let me know if you have any further problems.....

Hi Vikki... Your profile page shouldn't look like that! I fiddled on my end, but I'm not sure if it will fix the problem for you. If you re-check and still don't see your Avatar option on your update-profile page, go back to your primary profile page and click the "Delete All Cookies Set by This Forum" link, and see if that straightens out the problem..... Let me know!

I hate these glitches that only affect one or two members..... sometimes there are very hard to figure out! frown

Hey Bill~

I'm loving this website and would love to get a picture also, but I just don't see where the "avatar" choice is. There is nothing in between the space for my birthdate and signature. Am I missing it, in my sleep deprivation? eek

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Lynne,
As you can see, I picked out an avatar for you. Usually this is all that it takes to get the option to show up in the members profile. You should be able to change it now.... If not, let me know and I'll fiddle more. smile

Thanks so much for your speedy response, Bill, but I still do not see the option on my page. You did say it should be between the birthdate and signature, yes?

The one you picked is cute, but I'd love to be able to go through the choices. Any thing else you can do?

Thanks again, kit Lynne kit

Ok, still confused!!! The Avatar button is selected from the buttons page, or, the photo gallery? and the button is different than the picture at the left of our postings, so how is that setup? I see some really nice ones there with things like Dream Gardener, Garden helper, etc. DuhHELP!! Duh

Okay Phil,
I am one of these computer challenged people,
and I'll try to walk you thru it with out confusing the both of us....

Go to Profile/Messages
View/Update Profile

Scroll down and you'll see things like this;

USDA Planting zone:
Gender:
ICQ ID:
AIM ID:
Birthdate
Avatar Image: Select a different Avatar Image
(The Select a different.....on the right side, line above is in blue, click that on that and that will bring up the catagory you're looking for)

Now when you see the words gardener, dream gardener, it goes with the amount of "posts" you make...I know the #15th post, kicks in the dream gardener title....

The bottom picture you look at all of Bill's picture's and pick one out that suits you and the wife.
(You could even (I think) have her become a new member herself and you can EACH have your own picture if you'd like...
I'll put in a link to those pictures too!!

Forum Signature Buttons

wavey Hello Phil,
You gotta watch me sometimes, I get to posting
so late at night when my eye balls are crossing...

Go back to those links, look them over and decide which one picture you two liked and then come back here and you have to tell Bill which one you've decided to take and he'll hook you up with the signature button on his end........
Then when he does that, it'll show up every time you post......

Does that make a little more sense to you....?

You know when my 3 year gets to talking to me too when I'm typing and I forget a few words here and there...
Usually kit Karen catches me!!!!
She must be off napping like a good cat!!!

Thanks that is my back yard from out my upstairs hall window.

My son took it after a rainy day. That is the wonderful thing about a rainy day. Afterwards everything looks so lush and beautiful, all the colors are more intense.

Hello Bill.
I have a personal pic that I would love to use as a signature button but I have no way of getting it on to the computer for the time being. Do you think it would be to much trouble to give me that monkey in a recent wall paper post as a temperary pic? It was with the azalea's. If not(to much trouble) I think it should have a small boarder and say something allong the lines of temp photo along the bottom but I trust you with the words!

Hmm... I think I'll stick with the monkey. I like it's style. The names more of a reference to when I was in jr. high, when ever I saw a stray apple on the floor I'd jump on it! It was an iresestable urge and the nic name kind of stuck in my head! Those poor janitors though. lala

Sorry scarlet begonia, I'm afraid that I can't use other people's photos for your button (unless it's yours, or you can get the photographer's written permission, of course)
If you do a forum search (in the profile bar at the top) of the Desktop of the Day photos, you'll find several Begonias that I've posted there. Hopefully you can find one that is nearly as perfect for you!

Thanks weezie, Bill suggested it. You say they are easy to grow. I've seen them as bulbs, or corms, or tubers or whatever but a bit pricey for zone 5 that will die if I leave them out. Maybe when I get my greenhouse. angell

Yep, at the end of the season, just bring
them inside, and I just stop watering....

They dry out, the leaves dry up, (oh, I've
even had the stalk, the whole thing, just
clunk over, and off) but the bulb goes
dormant, and leave in a cool basement,
(I leave mine in a basement that has two
hot water tanks and a furnace... that's it
for heat, they over winter fine..
Then come sometime around, oh, say middle
of March (ish) and then you'll see some
little tiny growths at the top of the dirt,
that'll be the plant coming back to life.

I do nothing to them but water them..
and stop watering.
Little bit of fish emulsion and once in
awhile Shultz's 10~60~10.............

Now, my former neighbor used to take them out of
their container/pot, and put them in peat moss or something, and then replant them in the spring..
Can do that too!

And I have a girlfriend that just let's them
grow through the winter in her kitchen window..

So, I can say, you pick a method I guess.....

Get 6, and try 2 of each, with the 3 different methods.... I am a experimenter...

But for me, I'm terribly pulled in many different directions, (I look something like me picture down there with my name, going in so many different directions at the same time!)
But I'm slow, so, the method I chose was the easiest for me!

Hope this info helps!!

That is one unusual plant!!
Does yours look like the picture on the
link I gave you? Or just a baby????

That's a sharp looking plant.
I am totally unfirmiliar with it!!! Butttt....
Maybe Will Creed would know, or Lizheaemma, or oh, gosh, there's a few that might know!!!!

Maybe we can get those gardeners to come up here
and take a peak at your question??
Or start a new post under plants and flowers Section.... and try it there...
Sometimes we have gardeners that frequent only certain area's....So, maybe if we get that question down there...
Let me know if you need anymore help!!

Hi Bill,

Your collection of photos are absolutely stunning...I'm in awe! I found one in your new gallery that I would love as a personal signature button. It is the photo of swans in your new gallery, page 1, middle of the first row. If you have the time, I would be honored to use it as my signature with the name "Cricket" on it. Thank you for giving us access to you immeasurable talents and beautiful photos! Your truly are an angell !

That is abso toot lee beautful. I have never seen anything like that. The ones I was refering to, I have seen on the coast of BC. Leaves are very similar, but not as many and the trunk is a beautiful reddish brown. They grow in all different shapes, quite gorgeous really. No fruit on them either. Thanks again Bill especially for the blow up. It really is remarkable,

I saw in a message that you are offering to make buttons for people for their messages. I looked through the beautiful pictures, and thought if you wouldn't mind, I would like a signature with the "Colors" picture. Could you please put my name at the bottom----Denise. Thank you so much for all the prettys you give people.

Dear Mr. Bill,
What a thoughtful and generous guy you are. I love the Gardener's Forum and am so happy to be a member here!
Do you suppose if I provided a picture, could you crop it into a button? It's of my darling puppy Bessie in the wild calendulas(I think). Here is her pic. If that is not possible, I like the geranium button, if it is still available. Thanks, Bill! luv

LOL, weezie! They do, very much so! Where the heck did I get calendula? Maybe from the orange? Duh
You should see it here, with all the rain we had this winter, everyone's yards are blooming with all these incredibly colorful wildflowers, it's just gorgeous. This actually is in my neighbor's yard, after we went to check the mail. I guess Bessie just got pooped from the 2 minute walk in the 90 degree heat, so she plopped down for a break! Thanks for the pics and heads up, daisies it is!

Where the heck did I get calendula?
They do look very much like Calendula's,
but maybe just not as tall....
And I might have even said that, and it still might be for all I know, just I didn't think Calendulas got that tall...but wild one's might. Duh
But that's why I thought of exactly what I picked up last night at Wally~World...*Not even 24 hours ago..*because of the shape, color and height!!

Weezie

P.S. Please tell your neighbor I am extremely jealous of that gorgeous field of blooms!!!!!
(I need a drooling gremalin here!! LOL!!!)
