I would like to thank the members of The Gardener's Forum in some small way. There is not much that I can do for you, but I thought that some of you might enjoy having a personalized signature button to display beneath your posts.
If you would like me to set up your button, let me know which photo you'd like and what you'd like inscribed on it. I'll fix you up as soon as I can....
You'll find find a collection blank (and claimed) buttons at
The Forum Button page but feel free to browse through all of my wallpaper photos until you find the one that suits your personality... If you
REALLY can't find the right one there, whine a lil bit... With close to 20,000 pix, I'm sure I can find something that fits!
Wallpaper pages... More available photos....
Hi Bill...Do u have any pics of the Heceta Head Lighthouse in Florence, Or? I was there numerous times when i went to school in Eugene. I was trying to find one for wallpaper on my computer.
Thanks..
Greg
 :p
Hi Greg....... I'm afraid I can't help you with that one, but it was a good challenge!!
Hi Bill....Thanks for checking....I appreciate it! Keep up the great work on the site....

I will repost a few "lost" roses in the desktop photos again tomorrow, and you are more than welcome to pick one of them (check the availability on the
button page ..)! I'll fix you right up if you like one of them....
Thank you, Bill! Hope you have a good day!
Good Morning Bill!
Would you please give me a flower with my signature? I would like the Bunchberry with "Suzanne" for my signature. Thanks a bunch!!
Hey Suzannie,
What are bunchberries???
Weezie
A bunchberry is a....
bunchberry
Okay, I think I got the Avatar. I picked the absolute oddest one I could find, with the possible exception of the cheese.
BESS,
I THINK THAT'S A NEAT ONE!!!!
I COULDN'T PICK, BUT I'M ALWAYS OUTTA THIS WORLD,
DREAMIN' OF THE PLANETS, AND THE UNIVERSE AND THE STARS, SO I THOUGHT THIS ONE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ME.....
REALLY LIKED THEM ALL!!!!
WEEZIE
< He looks like he's wearing overalls, which I often am.
Weezie, you are definitely out of this world.
I love our signature buttons. We are way cool thanks to Bill.
I may be blind but I don't see the avatar section in my profile section...has it been left off for some reason??
Also I'd love my own button!! I love the pink asiatic lilies in the Buds and Blooms section (top, first row) and if you put Debby on it I'd be thrilled! I'd love to use that same pic as my avatar as well if it has become a admin. duty only thing.
Hi Debby!!!
Let me know if I need to re-make it for you....
Button looks just fine Bill! Thank you very much!!!
Okay, I'm still feeling silly about this...but when I click on Profile/messages....then all I see is *View/Update profile*...and on that page I swear there is no mention of the word avatar other then the option of having others not see my avatar.
Got it now Bill! Thanks!!
Bill, Help...I have looked and looked for the select Avatar button but can't find it. I go to the Profile/Messages then View/Update Profile but my only choice for avator is to show or not to show Avatar of another. What am I doing wrong?
Good morning Vikki..... The "Select a different Avatar Image" button is in the middle of the page, between "your birthdate" and "your signature". You should be able to find it and change it to something else now!
Let me know if you have any further problems.....
Bill
Hi Vikki... Your profile page shouldn't look like that! I fiddled on my end, but I'm not sure if it will fix the problem for you. If you re-check and still don't see your Avatar option on your update-profile page, go back to your primary profile page and click the "Delete All Cookies Set by This Forum" link, and see if that straightens out the problem..... Let me know!
I hate these glitches that only affect one or two members..... sometimes there are very hard to figure out!
Hey Bill
- You da man!!! As you can see it worked. Thank you very much. And thanks to Weezie also.
Well I'm glad I wasn't the only person who didn't have that visable for me either..Mine didn't show up until you added the picture yourself for me Bill!
Hey Bill~
I'm loving this website and would love to get a picture also, but I just don't see where the "avatar" choice is. There is nothing in between the space for my birthdate and signature. Am I missing it, in my sleep deprivation?
Thanks so much for your help!
Lynne
Hi Lynne,
As you can see, I picked out an avatar for you. Usually this is all that it takes to get the option to show up in the members profile. You should be able to change it now.... If not, let me know and I'll fiddle more.
Thanks so much for your speedy response, Bill, but I still do not see the option on my page. You did say it should be between the birthdate and signature, yes?
The one you picked is cute, but I'd love to be able to go through the choices. Any thing else you can do?
Thanks again,
Lynne
Guess I was a "little" overanxious before...
I now have the place to search the avatars - thanks again, Bill
Lynne
Hi Lynne,
I can see your avatar so it must be working! And welcome to our little forum community. I hope you come back often!
Happy Gardening!
Hi Bill,
Thanks you so very much for my hummingbird avatar.
You are the greatest!!!!!!
jc2weho
OOps, didn't work....
Disregard this post
OKAY!!! Now I can do it....
Ok, still confused!!! The Avatar button is selected from the buttons page, or, the photo gallery? and the button is different than the picture at the left of our postings, so how is that setup? I see some really nice ones there with things like Dream Gardener, Garden helper, etc.
HELP!!
Okay Phil,
I am one of these computer challenged people,
and I'll try to walk you thru it with out confusing the both of us....
Go to Profile/Messages
View/Update Profile
Scroll down and you'll see things like this;
USDA Planting Zone:
Gender:
ICQ ID:
AIM ID:
Birthdate
Avatar Image: Select a different Avatar Image
(The Select a different.....on the right side, line above is in blue, click that on that and that will bring up the catagory you're looking for) Now when you see the words gardener, dream gardener, it goes with the amount of "posts" you make...I know the #15th post, kicks in the dream gardener title....
The bottom picture you look at all of Bill's picture's and pick one out that suits you and the wife.
(You could even (I think) have her become a new member herself and you can EACH have your own picture if you'd like...
I'll put in a link to those pictures too!!
Forum Signature Buttons Wall Paper Pages Weezie
Let us know if you still need some help!!
You are also more than welcome to pick any of the
Desktop of the Day photos to have as your "signature" button! In the event that someone previously picked your photo choice
(you can check on the button page....), you'll have to try again!
Thanks Weezie, was able to take care of the avatar, now we just have to put our collective "heads" together for a button, uhhh, one more question?? You can right click on any picture to get a link to use in a post?
Hi Phil! I explained how to use images in your posts (among other things) in
Mr Mean Let us know if you have any more questions....
Hello Phil,
You gotta watch me sometimes, I get to posting
so late at night when my eye balls are crossing...
Go back to those links, look them over and decide which one picture you two liked and then come back here and you have to tell Bill which one you've decided to take and he'll hook you up with the signature button on his end........
Then when he does that, it'll show up every time you post......
Does that make a little more sense to you....?
You know when my 3 year gets to talking to me too when I'm typing and I forget a few words here and there...
Usually
Karen catches me!!!!
She must be off napping like a good cat!!!
(J/K Karen!!!)
Weezie
Yep Weezie I was doin just that
Weezie, Thanks, At least we operate on the same level, this mornings post was after getting off work at 6 a.m.
You know Phil, I used to get in bed at about 6:00am every morning, 6 to 7 days a week, for 16 years... Then I had this most precious little baby, that insisted that, I GET OUT, of bed the time I was used to GETTING INTO bed, What a culture shock!! I'm still not over it!!!!
Weezie
JUST AS SOON AS I CAN FIGURE OUT THIS FORUM SYSTEM I'M GOING TO ASK FOR A "DO-HICKEY" WITH MY NAME ON IT IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER. ANYONE CAN SEND ME H-E-L-P. SHIRLEY

Good eye Weezie! You are absolutely right! I knew there was a Heuchera growing in that garden, but I sure didn't see the picture! (sighhh....)
Heuchera, would you like that pix for your button better?

Bill, could I please please please have a Trillium as my signature button with Sherri written on it? The Trillium is our province's flower and I just love them. Have horrible luck growing them, but love 'em just the same! Thank you Bill!
Bill, it looks awesome! Thankyou so much, but....could I ask one more favor?
Could I please have "Sherri" written across the bottom? Pretty please?!
LOL!!
Answer... not very attractive!!
ok the picture is
here
Oh and with my name in white, at the upper right hand side where the picture is very dark.
Very Nice Picture Rue!!!!
Thanks that is my back yard from out my upstairs hall window.
My son took it after a rainy day. That is the wonderful thing about a rainy day. Afterwards everything looks so lush and beautiful, all the colors are more intense.
Bill may I please have the aster (top row, 2nd column) for a signature button? It should say Lorella.
thank you.
wow that was fast! Thank you, Bill.
(oh and just wanted to mention that when you talked (in another post) of doing landscaping at "the Nordstroms" I knew exactly of whom you spoke. My brother lives in Seattle, and went to school in Kirkland. )
Hello Bill.
I have a personal pic that I would love to use as a signature button but I have no way of getting it on to the computer for the time being. Do you think it would be to much trouble to give me that monkey in a recent wall paper post as a temperary pic? It was with the azalea's. If not(to much trouble) I think it should have a small boarder and say something allong the lines of temp photo along the bottom but I trust you with the words!
I have some apples stashed away if you'd prefer them over the monkey for your temp....
Let me know and I'll fix you up whichever way you'd like!
Thanks bill!
Hmm... I think I'll stick with the monkey. I like it's style. The names more of a reference to when I was in jr. high, when ever I saw a stray apple on the floor I'd jump on it! It was an iresestable urge and the nic name kind of stuck in my head! Those poor janitors though.
OH OH!!!!! I was the custodian at our local Jr High for a while and we have at least two members that visit regularly, who are currently custodial engineers ... You may have stuck your foot in your mouth Apples....
mwa hahaha!
Thanks Bill!
I dubb thee speed demond and man of good deeds!
As for the apples I blame it on innocence and god will save me from any harm!
Hey I want one too! Is it implite to ask for one I found? I have one I think is perfect for me.
http://www.hort.net/gallery/view/beg/begps/ If it can't be done, I certainly understand.
Sorry scarlet begonia, I'm afraid that I can't use other people's photos for your button (unless it's yours, or you can get the photographer's written permission, of course)
If you do a forum search (in the profile bar at the top) of the Desktop of the Day photos, you'll find several Begonias that I've posted there. Hopefully you can find one that is nearly as perfect for you!
Bill
I REALLY like the red one in the middle -
Tuberous Begonias from TGHF DOD now what do I need to do?
Scarlet Begonia,
Just to let you know, I shortened that link
so it didn't go off the page..
Nice begonia by the way!!
I have several of those,
and so does my mother!!
Good choice!!!
Weezie
Thanks Bill, it looks beautiful! I may try to grow some of these this year, I've never tried to grow anything but the ordinary ones!
Nice Picture Scarlet!!
Those are very easy to grow!!!
Very easy!!
And so many colors, and styles.
Some are like that, and some are
hanging like, like the angle wings!!
So pretty!
Weezie
Thanks weezie, Bill suggested it. You say they are easy to grow. I've seen them as bulbs, or corms, or tubers or whatever but a bit pricey for zone 5 that will die if I leave them out. Maybe when I get my greenhouse.
Yep, at the end of the season, just bring
them inside, and I just stop watering....
They dry out, the leaves dry up, (oh, I've
even had the stalk, the whole thing, just
clunk over, and off) but the bulb goes
dormant, and leave in a cool basement,
(I leave mine in a basement that has two
hot water tanks and a furnace... that's it
for heat, they over winter fine..
Then come sometime around, oh, say middle
of March (ish) and then you'll see some
little tiny growths at the top of the dirt,
that'll be the plant coming back to life.
I do nothing to them but water them..
and stop watering.
Little bit of fish emulsion and once in
awhile Shultz's 10~60~10.............
Now, my former neighbor used to take them out of
their container/pot, and put them in peat moss or something, and then replant them in the spring..
Can do that too!
And I have a girlfriend that just let's them
grow through the winter in her kitchen window..
So, I can say, you pick a method I guess.....
Get 6, and try 2 of each, with the 3 different methods.... I am a experimenter...
But for me, I'm terribly pulled in many different directions, (I look something like me picture down there with my name, going in so many different directions at the same time!)
But I'm slow, so, the method I chose was the easiest for me!
Hope this info helps!!
Weezie
I guess I could do that. I already dig up Glads and some other flower that I can't remember what it is but it's so pretty that I've been digging it out and replanting it every year. I guess one more won't hurt.
By the way, how do you get your hair to look so wonderful?
And so purple, too!
Scarlet,
It's my ELECTRIFYING PERSONALITY!!!
weezie, the "black bat plant" was on a markdown shelf at wallymart. $3.50.... it was sickly with one leaf. liking a challenge i took it home, let it adjust, did some searching on it. it now has 3 leafs. i understand i have a rare plant. thanks for searching for me. come on SPRING.
weezie, cannot separate bat plant rooting's or stem. not sure just yet how to make another one. i'm not taking the chance at this early stage of it's re-birth.
MZSHIRLEY
That is one unusual plant!!
Does yours look like the picture on the
link I gave you? Or just a baby????
That's a sharp looking plant.
I am totally unfirmiliar with it!!! Butttt....
Maybe Will Creed would know, or Lizheaemma, or oh, gosh, there's a few that might know!!!!
Maybe we can get those gardeners to come up here
and take a peak at your question??
Or start a new post under Plants and Flowers Section.... and try it there...
Sometimes we have gardeners that frequent only certain area's....So, maybe if we get that question down there...
Let me know if you need anymore help!!
Weezie
Bill,
could i please have the puppy rottweilers for a signiture? its on your wall paper, all creatures great and small, { puppies photograph}

Hi Bill....
Do u have any wolf pics in your wallpaper images or for signature buttons?
That would be cool for wallpaper and to have a button with a wolf with Greg on it.
Hi Greg,
Sorry, but I don't have any wolf photos yet.
I'm planning a day at the Seattle zoo in the very near future so I'll try to get you one then!
Hi Bill,
Do you have any pics of Lilacs(any color) or maybe purple/lavender Lilies for a signature button for me?
If you have one or could find one could you put the name Lilylilac on it for me.
I'd appreciate it!
thank you, thank you, thank you Bill!
It's perfect!
Hi Bill,
Your collection of photos are absolutely stunning...I'm in awe! I found one in your new gallery that I would love as a personal signature button. It is the photo of swans in your new gallery, page 1, middle of the first row. If you have the time, I would be honored to use it as my signature with the name "Cricket" on it. Thank you for giving us access to you immeasurable talents and beautiful photos! Your truly are an

Thank you, Bill, for the lovely signature button. It looks great and I'm honoured to use one of your beautiful photos to represent myself!
Hello Bill. would you do me a signature button?

Eagerly awaiting your response.

Cindy
Ooooooooooooooooh, I like that one too!
Very nice Bill!
***Jogger,
Great "over the pond" picture!!
You don't look too far away from here!!!
Weezie
Bill l just knew l was right to trust your judgment, after looking at and getting great enjoyment from your web pics,

you have gone to 12 out of 10 in my estimation.
From over the pond ha! ha!
weezie, l don't feel far away when im on here.
Hi Bill,
I was wondering if you had any pics of puppies -- particularly black or chocolate labs. I have a pic that I really like, and I would love to use if for a signature button, but I don't really know how. Any way you can help would be really really nifty!
Thanks,
Wildpup
I love this topic...and waiting to see what Bill comes up with.
Cindy
I want a button so bad,but can't find one I like. I would love to find a picture of a woman working in the garden or maybe a picture of a cottage garden.
Hey Bill, think you could find anything like that?
Karen
In case you miss the other post
THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU
I am soooo tickled over it
Karen

Hi bill,

thanks
Sybil
Nice button!
Good golly, that is so fast. Thank you.
I have not seen one quite like this, I've only seen them from the bottom, with the reddish bark an all. (too tall )
Thank you again
Strawberry Tree
Arbutus unedo
That is abso toot lee beautful. I have never seen anything like that. The ones I was refering to, I have seen on the coast of BC. Leaves are very similar, but not as many and the trunk is a beautiful reddish brown. They grow in all different shapes, quite gorgeous really. No fruit on them either. Thanks again Bill especially for the blow up. It really is remarkable,
PS do they grow up here in Canada???
Hi
Bill. I am kinda new here. I was here, then left for a while. I felt I didn't have much to say. But I am back now. I saw in a message that you are offering to make buttons for people for their messages. I looked through the beautiful pictures, and thought if you wouldn't mind, I would like a signature with the "Colors" picture. Could you please put my name at the bottom----Denise. Thank you so much for all the prettys you give people.
Have a great day!
Denise
Oh oh... Sorry Denise, I put your name at the top...
I can change it if you'd like!
Thank you
Bill for the beautiful button. They just add a special something to the page. Glad that you had some "spare time" to fit it into your schedule.

Hi Bill,
I joined only about a week ago so if you think it is too soon to award me any kind of button, I will certainly understand.
Glad to help!!
That is a beautiful white rose!!!!
Weezie
It surly is a beautiful rose, weezie ... it
just looks soooooooo soft, I want to touch
it.
Bill did a beautiful job ... as always from what I have seen.
Dear Mr. Bill,
What a thoughtful and generous guy you are. I love the Gardener's Forum and am so happy to be a member here!
Do you suppose if I provided a picture, could you crop it into a button? It's of my darling puppy Bessie in the wild calendulas(I think). Here is her pic. If that is not possible, I like the geranium button, if it is still available. Thanks, Bill!
http://tinypic.com/280e4k
What a picture Amy!!
That is soooooooooooo cute!!
I love it!!!
I just picked up a package of seeds that
kinda sorta look like those flowers!!!!
***And what a WOWWWWWW factor on those!!***
I'll see if I can find the package and see if they're the same.
Weezie
Amy,
How about these, do these look similar!!??!!??
African Daisy\'s/Osteospermum Go to PHOTO ALBUM and click on YELLOW or ORANGE.
Weezie
LOL, weezie! They do, very much so! Where the heck did I get calendula? Maybe from the orange?
You should see it here, with all the rain we had this winter, everyone's yards are blooming with all these incredibly colorful wildflowers, it's just gorgeous. This actually is in my neighbor's yard, after we went to check the mail. I guess Bessie just got pooped from the 2 minute walk in the 90 degree heat, so she plopped down for a break! Thanks for the pics and heads up, daisies it is!
Amy,
Where the heck did I get calendula?
They do look very much like Calendula's,
but maybe just not as tall....
And I might have even said that, and it still might be for all I know, just I didn't think Calendulas got that tall...but wild one's might.
But that's why I thought of exactly what I picked up last night at Wally~World...*Not even 24 hours ago..*because of the shape, color and height!!
Weezie
P.S. Please tell your neighbor I am extremely jealous of that gorgeous field of blooms!!!!!
(I need a drooling gremalin here!! LOL!!!)
Mr. Bill,
Thank you so much for my button, darn that was quick(and thanks Weezie to for the compliments, where are my manners?)! It is just what I wanted; I love the font and orange is my favorite color!! You are the best, Bill!
P.S. Is there a special just for Bill thank you section?
Those flowers are beautiful Amy, almost as beautiful as your Bessie.
