We recently moved to a new home and left a 25 year old shefalera (sp?) in the garage too long and it got too cold. The bottom leaves are wilted and dead. The top leaves are still alive. Is there any way I can save this plant? It has been with me a long time and I don't want to lose it. Can't believe I let this happen to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only advice I can offer is to remove any dead or damaged leaves and/or branches and keep it in a warm, moderately lit space. Fertilizing with a high phosporous fertilizer will help strengthen stems and roots. I'd do this twice, at two weeks apart, and then begin a regular routine of fertilizing with a regular fertilizer, higher in nitrogen to help produce more leaves.
