we are having a crowd like always but this year other people are helping, someone is bringing Turkey and dessert and someone else a veg and dessert. We don't have room for a crowd but we never have and do it every year anyway. When I was 22 I hosted my first thanksgiving dinner for my husbands family, worked all day, came home and cooked and fell asleep at the table in the middle of the meal. Made such a great impression they have come back every year for a repeat performance. It's been 30 years and I haven't fallen asleep at the table since - there's always this year.

Cooked a turkey for the church dinner and had a tragic gravy accident while transporting. The container melted and it went everywhere - floor, cabinets, drawers - inside and out. It was the shiniest my kitchen has ever been.

One of my favorite things to do before Thanksgiving...is to get the Wednesday paper and cut out the article that they have every year where the 2nd grade class writes THEIR recipes for cooking a turkey..I take it to the dinner table to read as we are eating...it is so comical! this year most of them agreed on the time it takes to cook a turkey...15 minutes, with the exception of one young lad that prefers to cook his turkey for 800 minutes. And there was one who chooses to cook his in the micarwave. they pretty much had taking the guts out and one even remembered to remove the boblits(my personal favorite) One girl cooks her turkey at 50 dagrese forinhiy...and one chose to fri the feathers off. And one little boy has a family that cooks together...he goes to the forrest and shoots the turkey, daddy stuffs it, mommy puts it inside a cooking bowl and then grandpa has to pour 8 spoons of gravy on the turkey before it goes into the oven.
You just gotta love these kids!

trying to decide what new method I might want to try this year.... idea
