This summer we were lucky enough to have a Cardinal nesting on our front porch. I have a faux bird cage (complete with faux plant) hanging just outside the door. This gave me a great opportunity to take a photo diary of the chicks. Here are a couple shots...

This first one was taken when the chick were about 12-13 days old.

Five days later, look how much they've grown! And a day or two later, they had already left the nest.

They leave the nest amazingly fast! Some birds, like bluebirds can have 3-6 batches of young each spring through Fall.

Those photos are fantastic!
It must have been thrilling to see those babies grow and fly away.

You should submit those photos to a calendar or something -
they really are terrific!

I agree, front row seats is right!!!

Great shots too!!!

We have some birds that make nests in
my porch light every year..
So, every year, we duct tape the switch
at the time they're using it, not
to turn on the light and scare the livin'
