I'm planning on putting bark chips (not mulch) down on a small site that has been cleared of small trees and shrubs.
I was wondering if I need to prepare the surface in any way besides levelling it. Should I roll it? put a layer of sand down first?

Hi Redcedar....no preparation is needed before you lay your bark chip path other than levelling it....but if you do add sand this will help keep weeds and grass from growing through. I think it is a good idea to do this or even use a landscape fabric, but it is not necessary.

Good luck
