No, I'm 100% sure it was me...chasing them with the net and then the ones in the net flopping and screaming as I took them out of the water. They immediately went into hiding and have never come back out into the open since.
They have always been O.K. when I scoop leaves out with the net...but after seeing what that net did, frown I'm sure I won't ever be able to use it again for getting the leaves out. I'm gonna throw it away so they never have to see it again.

I just wanted to add that here in Florida, the tadpoles and bugs are so prevalent that my goldies don't get fed at all during the warm months. If I think about it, I may toss in floating pellets a couple times a month....but they are all growing and thriving on bugs, larvae and tads.

In the winter time, outside goldies go into a form of hibernation and once the water drops below about 55*f, you should stop feeding all together. Their metabolism slows and they are unable to digest foods...so it just adds more decomposition to the water.

Thanks, Giraffe!
For someone with a pond and a million (or so it seems) goldfish, I am pond/goldfish ignorant. I have no idea what I'm doing...but they are all still alive!
(Thanks to the help I get here!)

Cindy
