And this is the "weed" that we picked at Southern States, and found out via the mystery thread it was a poppy. Surprisingly, even tho it started to wilt... look at what happened today..

Hey Meg,

That is outstanding. The Poppies are such a joyful looking plant I really like them. I also love your light blue columbine. I have a mauve and dark purple one with pure white edge and I love them. I definitely will be trying to trade for some next year when I have something to trade.

Thanks tk.. I didn't even know what color they'd be.. I even had my doubts they were actually columbine, till they started growing this year..lol. I bought them at walmart, the end of the year last year... popped them in the ground close to fall... so they never bloomed. They were compact to the ground. I thought they were cute little green things, but look nothing like they do right now! I'll try to figure out how to save some seeds of them for ya, when they get to that point.

I have been watching the seed pods very carefully on mine waiting for them to turn brown. So of course they are not turning brown lol. But when they do I plan to be right there to collect every seed. I think I read that they mutate easily so they might create a different color than the mother plant but that's ok with me. I'll send you some if you want, when they finally become seeds lol. (I didn't know how to phrase that.) This is so exciting. It'll be a trade.

What a pretty blue color!!! Do you think you could keep me in mind for some seeds too if you are successful? I have a "blue garden" that I would love to grow some in...

Thanks. Happy gardening!

<img border="0" alt="[tongue]" title="" src="graemlins/tongue.gif" /> No fish at this time. I used to raise and sell Tropical fish got too expensive sold out still like them last one we had was my wife had a rare Frog our son-in-law gave her the tank lid fell and killed it. I will settle for dogs, birds, sugar gliders and Iguan's right now. I save them when peopl ebuy them for their kids then kids dont want them when they see they have to care for them. I saved two Gerbils two weeks ago gave to some of my Great Grand son's. My Granddaughter is about ready to shoot me as I am always giving some of the kids some animal. laugh laugh laugh

Hi all,

Columbine ... I read something about having to stick the trays in the refrigerator for 3 weeks after you sow them.

It never dawned on me to sow them in the fall. Duh confused confused confused confused confused

What are those flowers Phoenix? Really pretty. How big are the blooms?

SELF RESTRAINT TRAINING: I am not getting any more plants other than what is on my 2005 garden plan...I am not getting any more plants other than what is on my 2006 garden plan... I am not...

anyone have an extra brain I can borrow this one is broken beyond repair.

columbine seed outside in the fall, easy. I was reading about starting them indoors in the spring, not so easy.

Black and white ones sound so pretty. It would be like they were wearing a tuxedo.
