Can you help me name my fish? I bought 4 rather nice sized feeder goldfish for my bathtub pond and ceramic pot pond. They are all orange, except for one that has black on all it's fins.

So far I have:

"Sweetie" for sweet potato Duh idea <img border="0" alt="[perplexed]" title="" src="graemlins/confused.gif" />

I had heard something like that, Phoenix, but my son had a goldfish that had a black mustache, and a little on his fins - he lived for about 11 years or so, so I got this one anyway...

Actually, when you buy goldies (especially feeder goldies from cramped feeder tanks) the black is usually ammonia burn. The water quality in those tanks is horrendous and the fish are literally singed.

Baby goldies are often born dark in color to help with camoflauge too.

I've never heard of a black fungus. Fungus, on fish, only grows on dead tissue, so unless there was trauma to an area that would cause damage to the tissue, it probably wouldn't be a true fungus.

*fish geek...sorry guys.* smile
