Today was nice...in the 60's again. I didn't do a thing in the garden. I drove down to Park City Mall in Lancaster so that my friend could go to the Build A Bear factory. Then we went to Best Buy and then to Sam's Club. So...nothing at all done in the garden. But that's ok..still had a good day. smile

We had a sudden rainstorm last night that wreaked havoc on many unsuspecting drivers, flooded cars, fog banks with 16 car pile-ups, etc.. Crazy spring weather. Today its probably only in the 60s, but that's okay by me. The 90* in March was way too hot, too soon! grinnnn

Lynne,
We got some sn*w here too, but it actually wasn't too bad, this time around!
It was that kind of snow that was as big as quarter's and white and fluffy but WET drippin' wet actually! It stuck a tiny bit to the grass, not to pavements/sidewalks, but I did hear that snow was coming in this weekend coming up, and it's has a possibility of sticking :p ters but I would think that most of it is reasonable behind us!!
(where's the finger crossed gremalin???)

I'm antzin' to get into that greenhouse!!!
It'll be here soon enough, still working on my tree committee stuff...

Lastnight we got a thunderstorm....lightening and thunder. It was my first thunderstorm here at the new house....kind of scary...but not. Today nothing but rain. Tomorrow we're supposed to get rain. Sunday we're supposed to get rain. I had forgotten how "fun" spring is here. Thanks to the rain and the season, my head feels like it's in a glass jar, my nose is stuffy, and I've got the worst headach in the world! eek frown

It rained all day here today. I have water in my basement....again. Its pretty much a normal thing when it rains. I'm waiting for my plants to come from Gurney's. I will be planting them on the south side of my house to try to help with the drainage on that side. My lilies are coming up. The leave, not the flowers. Hyacinths continue to come and my daffodils are looking good.

When I picked my grandson (age 4) up from pre-school today, he asked me why it kept raining so much. I told him that God knew I had too many plants and flowers flw to water by myself, so He was doing it for me.

I didn't bother to tell him that, because of the never-ending rain, I finally had that water feature (pond!) in the front yard that I have been wanting!

I've had over 3 1/2 inches of rain and still coming down. The last 2 nights it got down to 34. They're calling for lows of 35 tonight and tomorrow night before it starts to warm up.

Terry I'm with you, we've had SO much rain.....we have had all kinds of flood watches and such. It so dark and gloomy out it doesn't even seem like daytime. But, rain is better than snow I guess. I just want a little blue sky, that's all....

APRIL SHOWERS BRINGS MAY FLOWERS
Keep the faith fellow gardeners!!!
flw flw flw flw flw flw

Look at it as the earth needs the rain and
needs fresh water so bad!!!!

It's been raining here (**snowed last night***)

But I look at it as an opportunity to read some more, or clean something I've been putting off..
Or sift my compost, love doing that in the cold weather, you don't get as hot with all that sifting I do!!!!

Never miss an opportunity to be thankful you are alive!!!
And it will be warming up soon!!!

I've been ant~zin' to get into the greenhouse and I can't yet!! Too cold at night, and not enough sun during the day to keep them warm sca
But it'll be here soon! I know it will!!!

You'e right Weezie, I wasn't complaining, I'm just amazed. A week ago it was almost 70 and now the temperature's dropped to 33 and it's snowing. I have tomatoes in the ground!!! (protected by Wall-o-Waters) Saturday it's supposed to be 70 degrees again.

I lost my favorite henryii clematis that I grew from seed to a freeze after 3 straight weeks of beautiful spring weather, 65 to 73 degrees. Weather man said spring was here & it wasn't going anywhere. I believed him so I jumped the gun & planted my baby outdoors & it died from the snow storm we got the very next day...so I got spooked, didn't plant another thing until yesterday. Yesterday it was low 70s & today we have hit 79 degrees. It better stay nice, because I put my nelly moser in the ground today & if I lose her I am going picket the weather man's office at the local tv station & tell everyone what a dumbas* he is lol...or maybe I'm the dumbas* for even listening to a weather man at all lol laugh

Are you sure it's dead? I had a Jacmanii that the wind tore all to bits last fall. There was nothing left above ground. But just yesterday I saw a shoot of it peeking up above the ground. I'd give it a little time before giving up.

I would sure love it if it weren't dead...nothing left above ground & we did get a freeze that night that tore up my little hosta sprouts too, but they are popping back up, so maybe the henryii will too...I will keep an eye out for signs of life:) Thanks for the tip flw

Hope obywan is right...I did the exact same thing. I'm right below you. My clematis had SO much growth...then the freeze. I dug it back up and brought it inside. Still no signs of life, but I still water it and talk to it, and move it from one window to the next. That same weather got me excited, too. I also lost 3 new hygrangeas I had set out, one with flowers already started on it as big as silver dollars. Like a dumda** I set out a lot of stuff today. It frosted heavy last night, but the weather guesser on T.V. says it's gonna be up to almost 80 for the next week. Hope your clematis lives. Let me know!

I'll let you know how she fairs...hopefully she will be fine, if not I am going to kick my own [BLEEP] lol laugh I lost one of my nikko blue hygrangeas in the frost too:( I felt really bad about that one also, but it was a wally world purchase, so I didn't have as much invested in it as I did my henryii grown from seed. I like your term for the weather man "the weather guesser" lol laugh , that is perfect!

11:15 Am and 71 degrees and sunny! I decided this morning that I was going to compost the garden (finally a nice day that is NOT a market day!!). I hauled 2 boxes down the hill to the garden, unloaded it and spread it and that's it! Its just too hot for me. I might have been out there for 15 minutes and I'm already sun burnt!!! mad I'm just going to have to wait until this evening when it gets cooler to do this....and maybe invest in a whell barrow!!! laugh My compost pile's palets are starting to rot, so I think I will build a new one VERY VERY close to teh garden!!!!!! teech
