Heres a real doozy! A man lives on the twelfth floor of an apartment building. Every morning he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. In the evening, he gets into the elevator, and, if there is someone else in the elevator -- or if it was raining that day -- he goes back to his floor directly. Otherwise, he goes to the tenth floor and walks up two flights of stairs to his apartment. G-Mom

Is he a little person? He can reach the button for the lobby because it's at the bottom. But 10 is as high up as he can reach unaided, so if he's alone, that's as far as he can take the elevator. If there's someone in the elevator, he can ask them to push 12, or if it was raining he can push the 12 button with his umbrella. I know that sounds crazy, but it's my best guess.

Ok...try this one on for size! Five pieces of coal, a carrot and a scarf are lying on the lawn. Nobody put them on the lawn but there is a perfectly logical reason why they should be there. What is it? G-Mom

Romeo and Juliet were dead in the middle of the room. All that surrounded them was a pool of water and some broken glass. How did they die? G-Mom

Okay, this isn't a lateral thinking puzzle, it's just a puzzle.
In a major league baseball game, a pitcher faced only 27 batters. Every batter he faced, he struck out. He allowed no hits and no runs, yet his team lost 4-0. How could this be?

Merme- that's a stumper. It's not a Cracker Jack box, is it? That doesn't seem right, they have lids...
