I wasn't really sure where to post this, since there isn't a "Dog Poop" forum, but I have a SERIOUS poop problem, as well as other various problems that occur when dogs run loose. The neighbor behind me has about 6 dogs, the neighbor bside me has one, and the neighbor across the street has two devil-possessed beagles. They ALL seem to love to poop in my yard for some reason. This is extremely annoying to me, since I don't own a dog! If I wanted piles of dog poop everywhere, I would buy my own dog to do it! One of the dogs is a FREAK that backs up to a plant, preferably one in a container, and does his business! Another one does the same thing, only on my big rocks that are around all my flower beds. A big shepherd mix that I don't know where it comes from poops right outside my front door! And the rest just poop at random spots throughout the entire yard. The other day when I was mowing one of them ran up into the yard and just HAD to poop on the strip of grass I'd just mowed! So, I chased it with the riding mower WHILE it was still doing it's business, laughing like a complete psycho lunatic! And the devil possessed beagles... Week before last one of them snuck up while I was working on the pond and stole one of my very expensive leather gloves I wear when I have to move rocks. So, I bought another pair last week, and took them off while I went to turn the hose on...and when I got back one was GONE! I was hoping that it was the right hand glove, so at least I would have a pair left I could wear, but NOOOO! It was the same hand as last time! They can be right in front of the door eating the cat's food, and I can yell and scream at them...and all they do is look at me and return to eating! So.....I got my old BB gun out of the closet, went to Wal-Mart and bought some BB's, but then decided it was too powerful to shoot a dog with. I want them GONE, but I'm not into hurting a dog. (However, Andy DID grab the BB gun yesterday and hit one of them right in the a$$ and it ran home.) Does anyone know ANYTHING (short of a chain link fence) that will keep them out of my yard? They are making a sick, twisted bitter woman out of me! Cindy

You really crack me up ... i think it's your delivery!!!! I have used a BB gun,but only on the butt(works for wayward animals of all sorts ) As long as you are not seriously injuring them..A shot to the butt..never hurt anyone. I really wish people would take responsibility for their animals. When we walk our dogs we carry a plastic shopping bag to pick it up with. I constantly see people letting their pets "go" anywhere. We even have a woman in the neighborhood, that I have seen walking her dog(NOT on a leash!) behind peoples homes letting the dog do "whatever","wherever" In my yard the cats get the water gun,but the dogs get a BB in the "backside" Don't take me wrong..I'm an animal lover dogs, cats, birds, snakes, hamsters, etc have all been pets of ours. Cindy, I think you sound like the kinda gal that could handle a good sling shot, could be alot of fun too, wish I could do that with the rabbits in the yard but I dont think they would learn as fast as a dog would. When our neighbors big dog takes a dump on our yard, we just kinda do the "scoop and toss" back into their yard, I think its the fair thing to do.

As long as you aren't too close, the BB gun won't harm the dogs. My dog stays in our yard but the neighborhood dogs (that run loose, of course) come into our yard. We used our BB gun several times & obviously, word got around cause now the other dogs stand outside the fence & try to lure mine out. But, they're not in my yard, anymore.

Cindy, You are too funny! I like the sling shot idea or the bb gun for the bigger dogs. I would scoop it up and put it on the owners front step. God I love living on a farm!

I feel for you Cindy....when I was a kid there used to be a dog that would go on a morning walk by himself....go alllllll the way around the block and poop on my parents property and then continue walking the rest of the way around the block back home.... I like the idea of putting those piles back in front of their owners front door. I hate to set up a non~kill trap because I sure don't want to cage a skunk....P.Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Can you rope those dogs or set up a trap and call animal control to come pick them up? The owner will have to pay to pick them up each time they are turned in.

Oh, you'd just like me to STAY this way??? Sick, twisted, BITTER old crazy bird lady??? Andy had a real good solution...this is funny! He told me to call and have one of those underground fences installed! (You know, the kind where the DOGS have to wear a special collar??? ) When I told him it wouldn't work unless the dogs had that collar on, he said for me to get a bunch of the collars and give them to the neighbors to put on their dogs! He must be living in some kind of dream world! Calling the dog pound wouldn't work, because the neighbors would get a little "upset", if you know what I mean. (As in "arson"???) (Eastern Kentucky?) (Hillbillies....?) (Hatfield's and McCoy's???) And I live in a GOOD neighborhood!!! If I tried to put the poop back in their yards, the dogs would eat me up! (Hillbilly Dogs!) Guess it's the BB gun, huh? I just don't want to hit 'em in the eye or something, because you know what they say.....

Ms. Cindy It sounds like you need either a fence, or a dog whistle. Either that or you should do your business in ur neighbors lawn and see how they like it ~Phoebe

Ok, now dont get me wrong, I have shot my fair share of animals in the butt with a BB gun. But if you want an alternative to that, and this will work for all animals. Get one of those super soaker water guns that shoots like 40 feet. Fill it with a mixture of 50 - 75 % water and the rest with ammonia. It is not dangerous, but it will keep the dogs and cats away. I learned this trick when I was a kid and riding my bike through dog filled neighborhoods. . Hope this helps some

Well ms. Cindy Obviously, if you're going to be using magnets, then you're gonna need to have both a negative and a positive charge. Remember how when two magnets of the same pole come in contact, they get pushed apart? Use one end of the forcefield at a positive frequency, and the other end at a negative. Then you can weave the positive and negatives to create a magnetic barrier which is known as a forcefield ^.^ You'll need to cover all 4 sides in order to make a wall though, otherwise it just won't work. I suggest using a buncha car sterio magnets, or hard drive magnets to do the job, cuz they have a strong charge in them Wow that almost sounded smart ^.^ I'd just get a dog whistle ~Phoebe

Yeah, we have some neighborhood dogs that like to run the fence with my dog but my dog tears up his mouth on the fence, so I don't allow him to do it. When they start, I get them with my water hose when I have it out. I, actually, kinda enjoy that, LOL!

Wow that almost sounded smart You crack me up, Phoebe! You know, I think I almost sound smart too, sometimes! Well, since I didn't feel right using my BB gun because it was TOO powerful, my dad gave me a BB gun yesterday that you pump up, and one pump is PERFECT for bouncing a BB off a dog's a$$! My daughter came through with a Super Soaker for me, so now I think I'm set! I can keep the Super Soaker with me when I'm working out in the yard and can't carry a BB gun around all the time. It has a neat holster, and an auxillary backpack tank to fill with water (sold separately, of course!). I have the BB gun by the front door so I can grab it and pop a few rounds off at the perpetrators from right inside the house! Now, I just wish I could hear what the neighbor's say about me when they see me outside with shorts, combat boots, bandana around my head, and the Super Soaker strapped to my side!!! Cindy

We had a friend with a situation like this. My hubby suggested to the friend that he send a scratch and sniff notecard to the owners of the dogs.
You can guess what the scratch and sniff sustance is right?!?!
