my favorite good deal (lately) has to be the shoes i got for my daughter's wedding. i needed a pair of bone or eggshell pumps, and oh a fluke (at walmart of course) i saw a pair, my size. i thought they were just on a "rollback" price of 8+change, but when i got them to the register, they were on sale for $3! boy was i happy!!

I have more clothes than a normal woman should ever have.....but, I get most of them off the walmart 3 dollar clearance rack....they have a rack like that a lot....and the stuff on there isn't all bad stuff....I don't care about name brands that much so I love it....My hubby says clearance is my fav. word.... :p

Wow! Now this is the topic... I don't know about you but my delima is tall size clothes. My 16 year old son is 6'2 and wears a 13 shoe! I can't afford to purchase him any thing unless it is on clearance or ebay. Even ebay can go sky high! He always seems to find shoes that "everyone is wearing!" on sale for $90.00 bucks! well I tell him Every one can't afford shoes like that.. Maybe we should see how much the box cost! Needless to say, the humor went no further. I did find him a shirt from Lands End no less on clearance for $4.00 bucks! I was so excited.. I want my boys to dress great but I have no money tree in the back yard! The same thing with plus size clothes.. My husband swears I have an affair with "Clearance" And I am the coupon queen around here.. Just some of Lifes Survival ways..

Moonstar~ My son also wears a size 13 shoe... but he is only 5'7"!!! We have big feet in our family - my daughter and I are only 5'1" and we both wear a size 8. I always teased my son when he went to sleep-away camp, and asked him if they asked him to dock his shoes down at the lake!

OOOHHHHH Lynne, I know what you are talking about! My son has wore a 13 shoe since he was in 8th grade. He just started growning in height this year since school started! Maybe it is all the additives and preservatives in the food now days! How do you get the "in-Style" shoes and clothes for your son???? I just can't afford it.

My son started with that size too around 8th grade! But he'll be 21 soon and won't be growing in height anymore, sad to say... He's very anti - stylish, so he mostly wears sneakers and boots. The most difficult shoes are dress-up, and we had a lot of fancy parties to go to this past year - what a pain that was!

Hey Lynne.... I have a son that is 21 and he is 6'4 and also wears a 13 shoe. But he is military as well so I don't worry about dressing him any more..Thank Goodness! He is on his own. But my 16 year old is very stylish and popular and center of attention. Makes it difficult. Thank Goodness I sew!

Moonstar~ My 13 year old daughter thinks she's Queen Diva - and is quite the clothes horse!!! Going to the mall, or any store with her for that matter, is always a treat! NOT!!! She knows I won't buy her the big name brands, but I will pay for part of the item if she wants to contribute the rest. She has a few of these pieces , but complains that she has nothing to wear each morning before school, when her drawers are soooooo stuffed with clothes that she cannot open/close them!

Hey, you guys, here's a trick that still works...especially if your kids don't mind mildly "vintage" stuff...been doing it for decades.. Find the thrift store that's located nearest the ritziest-snitziest neighborhood in your area.... I can't believe the stuff that's cast off as unwanted....New things!....Current things!!! Ah, the children of the rich view everything as instantly disposable....shop there, and your kids will only be a few moments behind the trends.. ...for pennies..

Sounds good, Jillie... but... my daughter is in school with those ritzy kids, and they would recognize the clothes - besides... she would never wear them - snob appeal, ya know...

Jillie, I think that would be a good ideal. I do shop thrift stores, ebay, epier and yahoo auctions all. He is not to snooty to wear second hand clothes. He knows military makes no money so we live very tight! He does work and pay his own insurance and car payment. His car is not what the kids would say is cool. But he only gave $450.00 for it you know. I think he is a good kid for only 16!

Hey, I go into the thrift stores to buy books and let me tell you as I've walked by the clothes to get to the books I've been astonished at some of the nice clothes they have in there.... I gave them my prom dress, and I saw it in their front window for about 70 bucks.....lol The thing is we got it on clearance, it was beautiful but we only paid about 40 for it new....

That is the thing... IF it is a thrift store in the richer part of town... Just like some yard sales... they want to much for the clothes. When you get to large sizes or tall sizes they are far and in between. They are always the ones to go first!

I have such a hard time being tall....I'm almost 5'11"......it's so hard to find pants that are long enough, most of the time even the tall pants, aren't tall enough for me....it drives me nuts......plus my brother is 6'4", and my sister is 5'10"......it's hard to find clothes for them at xmas....especially my brother, he isn't big....just tall, but he has to buy 2 or 3x just for the length of the sleeves to be right..... All of us tall kids from my mom and dad It's funny, I'm taller than mom, and practically taller than dad....we're like the amazon children..... :p The only benefit to being tall is you can eat more and it spreads itself out.....now that I like.... I found a good bargain....I got a 72 cell seed starter kit with the greenhouse cover and tray for underneath it for 3 bucks.....They had them at another store for 6 bucks....it isn't a big difference, but I love a good deal....

Laura, what is it with pants getting shorter?? I think the mfg's are trying to save a nickle. I'm on the short side: 5'4"...and I used to need to cut & hem EVERY pair of pants I bought.. Now, all of the stuff I buy just barely breaks over my instep...What's with that? 'course....maybe I'm getting wider and it's taking up the slack..... :p

too funny, Jillie! maybe you are getting the capri style by mistake - J/K I would love to go into a store and find a pair of pants that I didn't have to cut off at least 6 inches of before wearing them - my daughter too! We could never wear bell bottoms - because we lose the whole bell by the time we're done!!! Even in petite sizes - which are usually "Old lady" clothes anyway...

Have you seen the new style jeans that have the spandex in them? I can get them at Wally~World for about $15.00.................. Or they are on both the QVC and HSN, for a tad bit more + s&h, I've never got them there. But they are great, come in petit, and big sizes and the extra length is there on the bottom, but never bothered me, they look ok on top of a shoe or boot.... Talk about a great fit, I love them.. No more, let's just say, not being able to breath! Weezie
