And Barbie's car(s), and STUFF??? I promised a little girl a barbie house for christmas, and just realized I need to know these things before I start building...ooppps! SO, does anyone have access to barbie and all her junk? As I recall, she's almost a foot tall, but what about the things she has today? Any over a foot?

From head to toe, she's about 11.5 inches. (But if she didn't stand on her tip-toes all the time, she'd be 11.)
Although, according to the paper I read on the internet, the black Barbie is interestingly about a quarter of an inch taller than the white Barbie. (?????)
Also interestingly, this professor did all kinds of math to find out what Barbie's REAL dimensions would be if she were a full-size woman. ('Cause we've all heard the myth, right?) The short version is, if Barbie is 5'4", her dimensions are either 32-18-29 or 31-18-29, depending on whether she's the black or white Barbie. Try to measure up to THAT, ladies!
Sorry, didn't find any specs on her car or house. Maybe on Mattel's website?

Ashley has one of the big doll house if you want some pictures, it's 4 foot 4 inches tall and 2 foot 8 inches wide. has 2 real floors and a piece of floor on top
there's about1 foot and 4 inches on fisrt floor and 1 foot 2 inches on the next one, the floors are about 3 inches thick (out of that really thick plastic)the rest is form for making the whole thing look like a house
the car is (ashley has the pink Toyota) 16 inches long and sits 8 inches tall
are you doing furniture for it too? I use to love to make homemade barbie furniture. can tell you how to make some

Ok, inasmuch as there are real and sometimes legitimate gripes about Barbie, here is one fascinating tidbit I picked up recently about her... A research physician devised a way to use Barbie's bendable KNEES in artificial fingers for patients, giving them the possibility to actually bend and not just be cosmetic but useless. When Mattel heard of her success with the articulating knees, they donated a vast quantity of the knees direct from the factory so the doc didn't have to rip apart any more discarded Barbie's to salvage the knees. Now how's THAT for creative female thinking?! Merme

Hey Geegee... Did you now that if Barbie were real, she couldn't walk on her 2 feet? Because of her proportions, she'd actually have to crawl on all four's because of her dimensions not allowing for muscle strength??? I had a Barbie car when I was young...the hood was a trunk and the trunk was a radio! That thing was at least 18 inches long!!! Barley...a quick trip to a toy store with a measuring tape would be a quick fix. Most toy stores...even small ones in the mall...have an entire aisle devoted to Barbie and all of her accessories.

You did a great job.My Shelby would love that doll house. She got a barbie magic key house last year. She plays with it sometimes. But it really isn't tall enough for the dolls. I am not a barbie fan either,  uh oh,is that too political?I wish we had a puke icon. Oh well, balance in all things. When I say "hey Shelby, wanna play in the dirt?" She always says yes. Sorry, off topic.Too much jo. Barlychown, that is a great doll house.I know my little girl would love it. You are very creative. duckie

duckie... Hey, I have a puke graemlin if you want to borrow it some time! Barley... How DO you have time to do stuff like that? No kidding! That is pretty awesome. Rachel gave her Barbie Dream House away awhile back, then got on ebay and found out how much she COULD have gotten for it! But, she didn't mind, because it went to a good home! Cindy

Thanks, guys! Someone once told me 'if you are looking for time, you will NEVER find it...if you want time, you must MAKE it"...that is SOOO true! Besides, my mouth always gets the rest of me in trouble...it agreed to make this dollhouse before it consulted my brain, which was screaming "with WHAT time!!!"..... All in all it only took me two days...one to build and prime it...one for all the details! And it wasn't full days, just what time I squeezed out. Here's a little secret...all the flowers and bugs were already prepainted from our craft store...all I had to paint was her name, and paint all of what is now pink...that saved some time!
