Companion Planting

Companion Planting is the act of planting two or more different plants within close proximity of one another with the hope that traits from each plant will benefit one another.

The term Companion Planting is used in relation to both perennials and vegetables. It has been part of gardening folklore and orcharding in many cultures for many years.

In regard to perennials this would refer to combining plants that make a colorful, contrasting display, or providing pollination. An example in regard to vegetables, this could refer to planting tomatoes with basil as it is said that they compliment one another.
