I purchased 3 different types of Hosta back in the Summer. One had seed pods on it when I bought it and I left them- waiting for them to dry out so I could collect the seeds. They are still green. Can I go ahead and cut them off and use the seeds, or will they eventually dry out and turn brown and split open?? I want to use the seeds, but am getting impatient. lala It was labeled as a Hosta "Elegans" if that makes a difference.

I was looking for seeds recently (now I'm almost over my hosta craze!) and I was able to collect some seeds. They will turn brown on the plant and begin to crack and split, the trick is to get them before they split too much and good bye to your seeds...I haven't tried cutting green pods off though, I would assume like any other seed pod your have to let it dry on the plant first.
