How would I go about starting a cutting from a tree or a bush? I have several that I would like else where in the yard. Is it possible for a beginner to do it?
Thanks,
Gail

Hmm, I'm not sure how to describe it. I'll take a picture tomorrow.

do you mean like a lilac bush? those are called softwood cuttings I think. all you have to do really is just snip a cutting off (about 5-8" works best) and either put it in dirt and keep it watered like a plant or stick it in water and wait till you see roots. that's the way I've always seen it done but you may want to wait around for others to say some advice though. good luck!

Cuttings are easy, but layerings are even easier... thumbup

The 3rd picture down looks to me like a
Ground Eyonoumous,
it should "layer" all on it's own..
Let it creep out, and at each "node" **where the leave attaches it'self at the stem** it'll make roots, and as it creeps out, it'll continue to do that at every node...

I would like another picture of it as it grows
out some more... It looks either young or just pruned, *like last year, or this spring??*

I bought it either last year or the year before. If my memory serves me correctly, it was in a gallon container. I pruned off the dead stems today. Thanks for the info smile I love watching my garden grow!
