I think my roma tomatoes have been over-fertilized; mad they are more like mini bushes than tomato plants. There are lots and lots of "sucker" branches. Can I just pinch/snip those off? I can not wait for my compost to be done so I can just add it and stop with this chemical fertilizer junk.

Thanks,
Sarah

It's OK to remove the suckers. Also any 'lateral' growth, (the shoots from between the main stem and the branches) can be removed if you like. It'll cause the plant to grow taller but you'll get less in number , though bigger in size, fruit. Up to you and how you want to shape the plants really.

Sarah: I have planted romas for a few years all I did was put some granular tomato fert. on them when planted. I did pinch off the suckers I had romas coming out of my ears. I blanch them pop the skins off and freeze for chili. thumbup
