Can anyone tell me what this plant is?

anyhoo, here it is.



some type of orchid. maybe? not sure as that flower (nice as it is) doesn't look like any type of orchid flower i've ever seen!

could be some type of hoya or even an aloe or other kind of succulent.

Not hoya, not aloe. It reminds me of something. I'll look around some and see what I can find.

margaret, i didn't really think aloe or hoya - but you never know as there are SO many varieties!! so i threw it out there anyway!

maybe some type of bromeliad??

I think haemanthus, the flower is right and the wide strap leaves. Here are some places to look:

Unlike many Haemanthus species, the bulbs of this one produce offsets readily.
oooohhh if that's the case, put me on the waiting list for trade out....i will find something to trade for a start!

you really should not tell me.hubby just told me this morning that I have too many plants.It took me all day to get some in and had most of them in already.now to clean the cannas up...nice bronze fall color now...he he heee maybe the ugly ones with buds will still bloom. Those are neat.
