My first bud has produced petals. It hasn't open yet but any day now. I'm so excited. And it's one the the deep burgandy ones. I just love it. Wish the camera were working I'd definitely take a picture.

Mine are budding also, but not sure when they will open. It will be interesting to see when they decide to open depending on which state they are in?
Mine are in Austin Texas.Will take a picture when they bloom too. I think they are burgendy,but don't remember..hehehehehe

Mine still hasn't opened but tomorrow they get a boost of bloom booster so we'll see how they like that lol.

I bought a pot of mums last fall, a bronze/orange colour. They did well all winter and I planted them in my garden this spring. What surprised me though was that they started to flower again in mid summer this year, and have continuously flowered every single day since then, and are still doing so now!

Trouble is I don't have a clue at this point what the name of this particular mum is... but I had no idea they would flower so early and for so long like this. I'd like to propogate it if anyone knows how to?

Saving mums requires that after it is done blooming that you cut it back to just a few inches and then cover it with mulch.

Propogation is done by cutting. Just take a stem about 4 inches long. Take the leaves off of the bottom inch dip in rooting hormone and then put in moist soil in a shady location until it roots. Keep it moist until it starts to produce new growth and then treat it like an mum.

I'm not all that good at cuttings but I've had a 25% success rate with them.

I believe you can also divide them but I've never done that. And I didn't have any luck with the seeds.

I've been learning about taking cuttings, so I think I'll have a try doing that with my mums as well, thanks for the info :-)

I'm guessing it would be better to wait until after flowering and new growth before taking cuttings though, what do you think?

Is it Helen?Helen is a burgandy but it has bronze edges.mines not looking good this year it looks leggy & not many buds.

I regularly 'propagate'mine.after blooming i'll cut mine back.woody stem sections root easier than new growth.I've also had smae results with or without rooting hormone. I root them in the shade.I have this wood frame box has soil in it.I root them in it then transplant out and do it all over again.I have a spot of yellow sunshine mum in every bed.Its been the furthest growing plant for .89 .

I got mums in my albulms somewhere's mine have a few more weeks.I seem to have killed my white one by shadeing it in the jungle& jungle is deep where the bronze one was.further investgateing needed.

BTW my burgandy mums have begun blooming just 1 and 1/2 flowers so far but there are plenty of buds so I expect good things.

I don't know what it is, didn't keep the tag and forgot what the name is.
Gave them to a neighbor now, and they're doing great.
It's a little plant, with flowers about the size of a miniature rose.
It doesn't have bronze edges-it's just faded to all bronze. Peachy bronze.
