While out birding this morning things were a little slow bird wise so I started photographing plants and flowers. All of a sudden I was OVERCOME by this deliciously sweet, almost narcotic smell that made me very relaxed and drowsy. There, in front of me, was a climbing bush with thumbnail-sized white flowers with yellow centers. Is this some sort of wild rose?

It looks like the multiflora rose we have around here. Non-native invasive species.

also called a cherokee rose. if it has very large thorns... the cherokee rose is vining, very pretty, and the thorns can be up to an inch long. makes a great natural "electric" fence if you need to stop digging or jumping. no animal will try to cross it!
